Look at the last one. It says there's something wrong in your lua to do with the cp's. Post your lua and we'll find your problem.

it seems like first of all, your map dislikes godrays :wink: and with the animations (or somat) it wants you to increase your memory pool to a very high count. so as Deviss said, FIX YOUR .LUA
also, if you have any godrays in your map, TAKE THEM OUT, you have apparently (as far as i can tell) exceeded your maximum amount of godrays. if you havent used any, then your visual munge is INSANE... :cpu:

Re: Map crashes after loading

Post by lucasfart »

Actually Samofbia, whats crashing the map will normally be last on the list, so i'm guessing its only the cp issue crashing the map, and not the other 2. Of course it's a good idea to fix them, but if he leaves them the map should still run as long as he fixes the cps.

EDIT: Did you even look at the spot where the cp's were defined? I found the problem after a glance at the lua. You're defining cp4 4 times.

You probably just copied and pasted the last one and changed the cp name for it...

hmm yah, you probobly had other things on your mind and forgot that you must change the cp name twice in that area instead of once.

It still crashes to the desktop. That last error message with the level 3 severity level disappears though. How do I increase the memory pool size? I see a ton of memory pool options but which one do I use?

hmmm, in all honesty, I HAVE NO IDEA :funny2: . anway, try getting rid of your godray's, i find that most of your map crashing will have to do with objects that dont actaully work, but thats just from my experience. Im sure moe experienced mappers will tell you otherwise.

Problems with godrays!

I don't have the memory pool problem anymore. My trees require godrays. Whenever I get rid of the godrays, the game crashes and I the error log says that the godrays are needed. But when I have the godrays the game crashes saying I exceeded the maximum amount! What do I do?!?

EDIT:

I'll post this in a new topic.
----------------------------
I am using Endor trees which require godrays. When I start up my map, the game crashes saying I exceeded the maximum amount of godrays. Whenever I get rid of the godrays, the game crashes and the error log says that the godrays are needed. What do I do?!?

Here is the error log with godrays:

Code: Select all

Message Severity: 2
.\Source\Godray.cpp(298)
GodrayManager: Exceeded maximum number of godrays (0)
And here is the error log without godrays:

Code: Select all

Message Severity: 2
.\Source\EntityProp.cpp(875)

That is not true, you are free to not have your trees use godrays. Take the file end_prop_tree01.odf as an example:
Hidden/Spoiler:
[GameObjectClass]

ClassLabel = "prop"
GeometryName = "end_prop_tree01.msh"

[Properties]

GeometryName = "end_prop_tree01"

SwingSpeed = "1"
GeometryColorMin = "255 255 255 255"
GeometryColorMax = "255 255 255 255"

AttachOdf = "end_prop_godray"

AttachToHardPoint = "hp_godray"
AttachToHardPoint = "hp_godray2"
AttachToHardPoint = "hp_godray1"
See the lines pertaining to 'godray'? Feel free to remove them if you do not wish to have godrays in your map. However if you do want to keep them, make sure you have the file end_prop_godray.odf in your world's ODF folder as well as the following lines in your modID.fx file (make one if it doesn't exist already):
Hidden/Spoiler:
Effect("Godray")
{
Enable(1);
MaxGodraysInWorld(5000);
PS2()
{
MaxGodraysOnScreen(50);
}
PC()
{
MaxGodraysOnScreen(10);
}
XBOX()
{
MaxGodraysOnScreen(10);
}
OffsetAngle(0.000000);
DustVelocity(0.0, -0.1, 0.0);
MaxViewDistance(150);
MaxViewDistance(130);
}
Just like the stock end1.fx file.

I have the proper lines in my PIO.fx file and the end_prop_godray.odf file in my world's ODF folder. When I launch the map, I get to where I choose the side, I select a unit to spawn, I click "Spawn", the game crashes. Here is my error log:

slightly offtopic: they are those streaks of light that shine through the branches of the trees

Marth8880 wrote:It still crashes to the desktop. That last error message with the level 3 severity level disappears though. How do I increase the memory pool size? I see a ton of memory pool options but which one do I use?
easy for example you memory pool is:
SetMemoryPoolSize("PathFollower", 50)
increase his numer
SetMemoryPoolSize("PathFollower", 1024)
