can someone please tell how to mod I know how to make maps but do not know how make mods?

Download the BF2 Modtools (the link is in the first reply you got.). Then, read the docs that come with it. It should provide you with almost everything you need.

What type of mod? What exactly do you plan to make/change?

If you want ot make changes to one side throughout stock maps, that is called a Side mod, and as several disadvantages and advantages. It essentially consists of munging your own custom side.lvl files and replacing the stock ones with them (making backup copies of the stock ones beforehand, of course). A con of this method is that most side changes (odfs, for example) will break online compatability, although not all changes will do so (skins and some mshs).

Can you further specify what you wish to do? Both add a new era (or, in the case of BFX, two), and the Convo pack adds new maps....

Those took years to create and are bunches of maps, not mods. Did you mean the unofficial v1.2 and v1.3 changes to the game?

I would like to make a sides mod with extra maps and thats what my goal to make is , but I think I would put a patch in it which is like the convertion pack

I hope you realize that's a lot of work. I'd reccomend goign for something a lot smaller, maybe a sides mod.

Well, I've never made a side mod myself but I'd imagine the process is relativley simple:

To make a Republic side mod:
1. Create a map with a custom REP side.

2. Make any side changes you wish.

3. Munge your new side.

4. Go to data_***\_LVL_PC\SIDE and copy your side's lvl file into GameData\data\_lvl_pc\side. Make sure you have made a backup copy of the stock republic lvl, and overwrite the rep.lvl there with your new one.

I may be missing something, but that's my general idea of it.
