Help with custom units and sides. (I'm a noob to this.)

I am very new to modding SW:BF 2, and I have been trying to create a single unit for about 3 days now, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am as noobish as a noob can get in modding SWBF2, I would love it if somebody guided me in the right direction.
If someone could upload one of their custom sides that work, or even link to a very specific tutorial on creating units, you would have my thanks.

Jedi creation doc deals with this. However, what do you want specifically for your custom unit?

Always refer to the
BF2 Modding FAQ / Everything You Need Thread when looking for tutorials:

The tutorial you would want would be somewhere under SIDES, ODFs, and Skinning.

and that tut by caleb is excellent, if youre going for a custom side, i highly advise you use it
