Custom Sound Mod

Hi all,

So, the latest battlefront is finally out and has some truly amazing sound design. I was getting a bit bored with the stock BF2 sound effects, but was wondering if there was a way to spice up the beloved battlefront 2 by adding some more accurate sounds for fun. (Seriously, where did they even come up with the effect for the sniper rifle? I don't remember hearing that ANYWHERE in Ep. I-VI, much like most of the other effects in this game.)

I was curious about replacing the default sound effects with custom ones in a way that would still be compatible in multiplayer, much like the 1.3 patch can replace default skins with customized ones. I have read the tutorials on how to get custom blaster sounds going in your own custom map, but is there a way that I can apply them into creating a whole new sound modification for the game? I've seen various mods that can change skins, menu backgrounds and even in-game player animations, but has anyone tried replacing the sounds yet?

Thanks!

You want to remunge the global.lvl file found in "..\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC\SOUND". You can munge that in any level you're building and then simply move it to the correct location in your SWBF2 directory. All the config files you need are included in the modtools, and you'll need the extracted assets found here.

I couldn't tell you whether sound.lvl changes are going to be an issue in multiplayer - it shouldn't, but any variations in the config file setups or naming conventions could cause an issue. You'll probably notice major errors far before you test in MP, though.
