Safely uninstall BF2

Post by 501st_commander »

I will be installing win7 over my vista pc. So im removing everything i can off. Now what i want to know is how do i safely remove BF2 with the v.1.3 patch, the conversion pack and battle arena 2.0 off my pc safely so i don’t mess it all up.

Thanks in advance

You should just be able to run the regular uninstall.exe
I don't have 1.3 so I'm not 100% sure about that.

A surefire but more complicated way, though, is to just delete the start menu folder and any random shortcuts you may have, and delete your LucasArts folder in C:\Program Files\ (with the exception of if you have other programs in that folder, in that case delete the SWBF2 folder.)
Lastly, just to free up the few remaining hidden files and registry type things, go to Control Panel and choose Add or Remove programs. If SWBF2 shows up in the remove programs list, choose to remove it.

You could also just backup the Lucasarts folder to DVD (or just the bits you want to preserve), do the upgrade reinstall BFII then just restore the directory from the DVD. The only need to do the re-install is to write to the registry correctly.
