I thought It was fairly common knowledge that Elite Squadron was the handheld BF3.......?

I found these pic´s of SWBFIII on google: In the bottom right corner you can see it is writen Richard Smith 2007,
i googled him and found that he works for free radical and some sources say it is free radical that make Star Wars Battlefront III.

Free Radical's gone, kiddo. These models were probably lost with the company. Still, it's a good find! I havn't seen some of these yet.

Game Spy Responds To Battlefront III Servers “Really, Give Us Privacy”

"After someone experienced with a tool to view all the Game Spy servers, we decided to contact them with a ticket to see what they said. They gave us a response saying that the software used is considered a hack and discriminating to our privacy. Game Spy told us it is a real server that has been started running since April. It’s no joke folks, that’s what they told me in a email i received yesterday. I have a feeling its gonna be towards a 2011 release due to the fact there have been strong rumors leading to a E3 announcement. This isn’t going to happen in my opinion because what if they were using it to “TEST” online servers for a reason? Who knows but thats my option 1 . Battlefront III speculation continues.."

To be honest, I wouldn't trust anything sites like those have to say. If their sole reason for existence is posting minutiae related to a game that's never even been announced, then they're not a reputable news source since their whole raison d'etre is having news of some kind.

That doesn't make something untrue, but it certainly doesn't lend much credence to itself. "Yes your server tool is correct but stop using a hack on our database" is non-news anyway.

Those could have just been tests given a random name. It means absolutely nothing until we get an official announcement, whether at E3 or otherwise.

What Mav said. Don't trust a site run by some fanboy. They would respond to media before a hole-in-the-wall site. Besides, look at that horrid grammar. Trustworthy this ain't -- not in the least.

One thing is absolutely sure -- if actual news on SWBF3 (or for that matter any reputable rumors) aren't going to come from a site that has zero copy editing.

So true. Plus, rumors towards E3 announcement, rumors toward 2011 release, rumors period: They shouldn't exactly be trusted. I have seen many people get their hopes up about this 'game', then either they were crushed by the bad news of FreeRadical, or the probability that this game is not real/being made anymore, or they chose not to believe any of it.

And even if SWBF3 was in production by another company it would be years before the game is even remotely close to being presentable.

A general rule everyone should follow: if it's a rumor, then don't believe it.

It's not fake - you can see it right there. It's from an ex-artist's site (okay so he is still an artist, just not for the defunct FR project).

It's also not new, which you can see as the video is dated 8 months ago. Since this topic has just turned into reposting old rumors and old images, it's locked.
