Mod Maps Online?

Post by ROCKET »

I've really enjoyed the mod maps that many of you have made available to us here (thank you, by the way), but I have yet to find any of them hosted for multiplayer matches. I play on a PC and just log onto GameSpy. Should I be trying anywhere else?

no.

I just played a mod map on-line, but I think it'll require that that server has a mappack name i.e. Map Pack 4 Server
where it only plays Mod Maps from Map Pack 4, then I'm sure it'll attract some people :)

Or maybe it could work by posting announcements here of games and which levels they will include?

Okay then... I'll give it a try tonight. Anyone interested look for a "Game Toast Mods" game to start around 5pm PDT (8 Eastern) and have the following levels in your Add On folder:

Kamino: Nurioca City
Coruscant
Tatooine: Canyons
Mont Edur
Abridon City
Big Hoth

Yes, Qdin, that means no one showed up. I played against the bots for about an hour and a half and gave up. But if you like, I'll try it again tonight and just let it run. Here's tonight's line-up (unless I get requests for other maps):

Coruscant: Streets
Tatooine: Canyons
Ord Mandell
Mont Edur
Rhen Var: Battlefield
Abridon City

Even though I like it, I think Mont Edur is very overrated.

I don't know about the first map and mod but I think Majin Revan's Naboo: Encounter was the best map made by a modder. The latest version especially is great because the AI is good, plus there's a ton of vehicles and epic battles, which is something overlooked a lot with fan made maps. Sadly, however, I don't think any of his later maps quite captured the essence of that one. There have been many other maps that had great potential but were either abandoned or taken in directions that were detrimental to the gameplay by other mappers and modders, some stood out, some didn't. I think Eddie's maps had a great potential but they all had a missing element to them. Also check out L-5-R's Endor. That was a kick Diet Dr. Pepper map but he never finished it. Definitely check out Naboo: Encounter, it's a great one.
