...................................................................Story

Personally speaking, I am a huge fan of the amazing, but cancelled, science fiction "Firefly" series by Joss Whedon. In the first pilot, which was not aired as such, the Battle of Serenity Valley on the planet Hera is dipicted. The battle was the bloodiest in the Unification War in which the Universal Alliance attempted to bring all worlds under its banner. They succeeded with the defeat of the Independance Faction (Browncoats) at the Battle of Serenity Valley.

"In the time of war we would have never left a man behind." -Zoë Alleyne Washburne
"Maybe that's why we lost." Malcolm Reynolds

I would be nice if someone could model new weapons if they have seen the show. They're basicly a old west pistol, but modern day machine guns. If anyone is interested please post.

I'm making this for SWBFI unless tools come out sometime soon.

I have absolutly no idea what you are talking about "Hera: Serenity Valley" wise, but if you want models you need to go to "gametoast.com Forum Index » Star Wars Battlefront » XSI ---> SWBF". Also I believe you can't model a new weapon. You can only edit existing ones, talk to pro modelers about it.

Yeah people can model new weapons. I think it was Quidin who made ones for the Republic Commando

I never saw the series or the movie (I did watch a mockumentary called "Mosquito" :P ), but this does sound interesting. Especially cool is that it would be a map... not a .lvl replacement. ;)

Yeah, Qdin did the weapons for the Republic Commando unit seen on many maps. Saturn_V, I believe, did the electrostaff as well, so there seems to be no barrier (other than know-how) to creating new weapons for the Firefly/Serenity factions. As far as I know, the current barrier is unit modeling/animating... so all these soldiers will have to be reskins.

So Alpha, are there vehicles on this map? Do you have any pictures from your source to tease us with? ;)

Also, you've forgotten to mention L-5-R's "Light-repeating blaster" as brand-new modelled weapon...

@Exclamation: I watched Mosquito yesterday, it was hilarious. Sadly I have no pictures, b/c I cannot find any on the internet and my computer doesn't have a DVD drive so I can't take them from the actual show. And I can't make vehicles for it because the ones they had (ground-wise) had wheels. And the olny air vehicle shown was a small scout flyer, so I think I'll make it infantry only. And yes, I will be reskinnning the soldiers. I have a vague idea of what they will look like and will start soon. I'll continue to look for pictures, but it's hard to find any sadly. I think I know where to find some Alliance soldier pictures though.

Alliance Scout Ship (I think a reskin of one of the vehicles on Teancum's tech map might look good as this craft...)

All for now.

Ooh! I thought that was shipped, but not included, and L-5-R just fixed it up. Kudos to him, then! sawyerdk9's point still stands.

Hmm... the Alliance reminds me of Starship Troopers. Since they are backpack-less, a Reb Vanguard reskin might work for them. The Alliance officer could be a Theed Security reskin. A reskin of Luke (or better, Teancum's Chiss Smuggler :) ) would be a good basic Browncoat unit. The basic rebel rifle resembles those guns closely enough that they could do, if you don't get a modeller. Just some suggestions... :P

I was thinking the same about Teancum's smuggler, lol. :P
I was going to use the rebel pilot for the Alliance troop b/c of the helmet. I also thought that the imperial officer looks similar to the alliance officer as well.
I'm thinking:
Browncoats:
-Reskin of Marksman
-Reskin of Smuggler (if Teancum will let me use it)
-Reskin of Vanguard
Alliance
-Reskin of Reb Pilot
-Maybe Reskin of Vanguard
-Reskin of Imp Officer/Naboo Security
I'll have to look at the security skins. I'm not sure about them.
Thanks for feedback.
I'll also ask Eddie for the models in his new Tynna map, b/c they look veyr similar to what was it in the show, but I can add a more sci-fi feel if needed.

Update: The height editing is done for the map, but only has basic geo1.tga as the texture for now. I'm going to make my own texture based on the pictures from the show. I'm making the Alliance Officer Skin first because it will be the easiest by far. I have not added any objects yet, but they will be present when the map is realeased. I still need to ask Teancum for the smuggler skin. For terrain I was thinking a lighter tan rock for the natural rock formations, but a darker gravel and rock for the ground. The sky will also be custom made.

Go ahead and use the smuggler. I give you permission.

Thank you. I've finished the skin for the Alliance Officer, but still have to get it into the game. The next class done will be variations of the browncoats, since Teancum has allowed me to use the smuggler.

Have you worked on this map in a few days? I wonder if there is a way to make an object which is just an explosion but with a time delay. It would be cool to be walking and have a big explosion go off in front of you and then maybe 30 seconds later it would happen again. That would definetly add to the battle. Chaos

I doubt it, but I can look into it. I haven't gotten to work on it recently, b/c of school. However, the textures and terrain are completely finished on the map. I will add command posts soon (b/c that's easy :P ) and then I will move on again with the sides and props. I may end up making a different side for each class, because I'm messing up little things, and it gets annoying. I'm also adding the command posts so that you cannot see the holograms with the rebel and imperial logos; that kind of takes away from the map. I may want to get the exploding barrels, and reskin them like ammo canisters that can explode. I may or may not add vehicles, that is still debatable, but I don't think I will. The ground vehicles all have wheels, so it would not work well. And only adding flyers might be unfair to the infantry below. It will most likely be an all infantry map.
