Question
I've just started modding SWBF 1 and wanted to get some custom props like boxes, barrels, and some stuff like that (stuff that doesn't move) into my map, but even after looking through this forum area I can't get a good picture of what I'll need to: make objects, get them into .msh form, and get them into my bf builder folder? Any clear answers of what I'll need would be appreciated! TY

Re: Question
Are you saying you didn't understand anything posted in the stickies at the top of this forum?newguy99 wrote:...but even after looking through this forum area I can't get a good picture of what I'll need to: make objects, get them into .msh form, and get them into my bf builder folder? If so then what improvements would you suggest for those topics?
I tried to make them informative yet short and to the point but suggestions for improvements are welcome.

Re: Question
Ok, sorry I didn't word my question quite right
What I meant was: Is there some tutorial or something for getting started, like the basic basics as in what 3D modeling program should I get?(blender, xsi, sketchup) What addons would be needed for SWBF 1 modeling and what can be used to make .msh files that work for SWBF 1? Do 3D programs like the ones stated above save as .msh's or will I need a converter? I was hoping to find this kind of info, I'm sure it's in the forum I just can't find it? TY for listening to a newb

Re: Question
Check out the XSI Tutorial topic in this forum it has lots of good information as well have a look at the FAQ in the SWBF2 Modding Forum
As for waht program that is your choice and what you think you can be comfortable using, most use XSI as it eliminates a few steps when exporting to msh. As for exporting it can be done by using the Pandemic exporter if you have a version 5.xx of XSI (see the modtools topic in this forum to get 30 day trial versions of XSI 5.xx) or you can use mshex which was created by Repsharpshooter to export from modtools version of XSI.
As for how to use the programs and getting started the programs normally have very good help files as well as some very good basic on line tutorials, once again links can be found in the above mentioned topics.
Good luck and happy modeling

Re: Question
TY! So I was leaning toward xsi but the xsi mod tools(free) is a Big download "400mb" and if I went with blender or something else would the process of turning a saved 3D object into a .msh compatible form be a lot harder than xsi which has a converter (MSHEx)?
P.S. If I get xsi mod tools should I get version 6 or 7.5?
TY again
