Well, for xmas i got a gift card, and i can either get Jedi Academy or KotOr, so i was wondering, whcih one is better, and why. Also, please list the pros and cons of each one. I might be able to get both, but that's unlikely.

I prefer Kotor but thats cause i've never played JA
Pros
~ Great Story
~ Very Replayable
~ Very few bugs (If any???)
~ Fun but Challenging at the same time
~ Great Customization of skills, party, etc, etc
Cons
~ No online gameplay
~ The Sequal has cool new stuff but not as good of story line
~ Not such a big modding commmunity

I would also choose
KotOR because it exists a great community specialized in the modding of that
BioWare game, on
LucasForums... You won't find a better and efficient way to enhance the potential of this game ! (*.NCS scripts, models, etc...) Indeed,
all modding tools you need are free, and very easy to use...
PS : Smiley', the
KotOR modding community of
LucasForums is rather important... In my opinion, you should consult its board, as soon as you get enough time...

personally, i preferred JA, because i found kotor's gameplay moved a little too slow for my tastes. if you're into rpg's alot tho, kotor would be a good choice.

I agree with that... But Jedi Academy does not really own awesome movies, contrary to KotOR...

The only reason I'd tip towards KoTOR (they are both great games) is that you're going to find the number of JA multiplayer servers dwindling over the next year.

PS : Talking of that, I'd also like to precise that KotOR II has kept tracks of a cut-off Multi-Player mode. In fact, some modders from LucasForums have thought to restore it ; Just go on their forums if you're interested...
Unfortunately, that's not the case for KotOR...

KOTOR.
Pros: Exceptional story, fun gameplay(though it takes some getting used to),
Great Dialog, heavily customizable jedi, interesting party members, And of course, HK-47. NUFF said.

Unfortunately, you can find spelling mistakes or cut texts in the dialogs you see throughout your progress... (At least, it has occured with non-English versions of KotOR...)

KOTOR wipes the floor with JA (which I liked).
KOTOR wipes the floor with all games IMO.
The single greatest game of all time. A real adventure!
PS. JO was miles better than JA

I agree. I haven't played KOTOR but I suggest that you get that.

Era', maybe you should try either
KotOR or
KotOR II before picking
Jedi Outcast or
Jedi Academy... Believe me, your choice will be harder to make, after that...

Well I already have Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, but I really want to play KOTOR. It's gotten such a great fan base and has been so highly recognized that it must be a great game.

You're not wrong... Moreover, if you know programming in C++, you will master KotOR I or KotOR II's scripting rather easily and fastly...

Jabba if you are going to get one of the KotOR games I suggest getting the first one since KotOr II has many references toward the first game.

Glad to learn that... Also, you can browse
this LucasForums section to get precious helps for modding or discussing about this
Star Wars game... (This time, I can't say
GameToast will be able to help you with it... However, if you need assistance for progressing along
Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic, just let me know...
