WIP: Space Kal-Tarra!

I have been working on this map for a long time, and it is finally at 50%+.

Before Battlefront II came out, I envisioned the space battles to be as epic as in the Movies. When I finally got the game and played some space battles, I was disappointed. I expected more Fighters, more Lasers, and basically more Chaos. And that is what I'm trying to achieve here: A Space battle worthy of the movies.

Anyway, enough with the Blah-blah-blah. :P

Features:

-CW era only
-8 capitol ships (6 landable, 2 not)
-The auto Turrets have been, well, you'll see in the pics. :P
-2 new types of turrets that target buildings only so you get the Capitol ships duking it out as well as the fighters.
-No more beams, no more chaingus, no more stupid remote terminals. Get in a Starfighter and get out there soldier!
-I will have custom sides
-The battle is an intense, close quartered one filled with Chaos.

To do: (highlighted in green = done)

-Add some more frigates and turrets on said frigates - DONE!

-Link them via LUA so they both get destroyed together - DONE!

-Link all of the autoturrets on the main Capitol ships to their respective mainframes (ugh, that's gonna be a chore) - DONE!

-Gameplay tweaking --This is why this map is only at 50% now. I have a good Battle between the capitol ships, but not between the fighters. The Anti-Aircraft Auto turrets are too strong. so I need to either:

a.) Make them weaker/less accurate
b.) Make the fighters stronger (either via shields or by increasing health or both)
c.) some combination of both

I also want there to be a bigger number of Fighters out there.

-Get some dome explosions and lasers going! (no idea how to do this)

Any help with these things would be greatly appreciated!

Looks good so far. Theres a map like this on filefront, but it only has 4 ships instead of 8.

It would be so nice to finally hate space battles for their intense fights instead of how boring they are! Too bad you can never make them EXACTLY like the moves :(, since there would have to be bigger ships, more colorful explosions, destroyable capital ships, etc. At least the awesomeness of this map would make up for what could've been! Good work!

Looks GREAT!!! :!: I love space map in this one looks so beautiful^^ I hope it´ll be released soon! And Maybe you can make there some bigger assault ships then there are^^ ( I hope you understay what i mean.... )

Seems pretty cool Hebes24. Good luck with it. :wink:

But why don't you use Dragonums capital ships ? I think they will do great in this map. Search for the topic and you'll have them in no time. :P

Hmm....I might use some of Dragonum's ships, but I probably won't use many of them. This map is full as it is! :D

Edit: I get a 404 error when trying to download Dragonum's capitol ships. :?

Also, does anyone know any big smoke effect odfs?

Wow, this looks great Hebes24!!! The map looks soo... what space maps should have been! Just one suggestion. Is there any way to make the lazer bolts more... fat? Like, big round bolts of lightning. The stock turret bolts just look like fighter rounds. The cap ship heavy cannons need to look like they have a bit more punch to them 8)

I don't think the lasers need to be fatter. They're almost too big for the small turrets already! As for the big ship turrets, those bolts are twice as big as the small turret bolts (if not, more).

Yeah, and SWBF2 seems to have an annoying impact engine. Large lasers simply disappear on impact...well, they penetrate partially.

i don't like the way the ships are placed....too symmetric and I'd ask pvt parts for new effects because they are a 100 times more realistic....the rest is nice

It means that my ZE work is done!! woohoo! (sorry JawaKiller, once they're placed, it's very hard to move the capitol ships)

Now it's time for the custom sides, gameplay tweaking, and the other stuff on the to-do list.

Also, I am about ready to start beta testing. I need Five testers. No more, no less.

Actually, all of my lasers have a nice little explosion upon impact.
