well i guess u cant take Star Wars and make it very very scientificly realistic. Remember its also fiction.

The thing is BFII isnt the most low armor friendly game. The defender has alot of everything, so what it comes down to is more speed, or more armor. Id want more armor, speed isnt a realy revelant factor in BFII. An auto turret will shoot us dwn in 2seconds 20meters away. Since the turrets are so n00by.

"in real life volume and shape means nothing"

Lord Bandu, this is what your suggesting
A little bottle rocket is attached to a 1 lb rock in space and goes 10m.
That same rocket is straped to a Hummer in space and the Hummer gose 10m as well.
hmm

"in star wars maybe"
this is star wars

Any ways, you said it wont have interceptor missiles, so what will it have? ions and 6 laser canons?

Calm down you guys, you dont want to piss Bandu off. He might not release it

Just drop it man... It's a >>GAME<<. The fact is, in this >>GAME<< the Defender is faster than the other ships, now deal with it.

And STOP calling everything n00by, you've got six posts.

Anyway, is there any particular map that you might ship with this Bandu?

Yo syth, if you don't like it:
1) Make your own fighter and make it however you wanna mke it.
2) Don't use it.
3) Just shut up and use it.

And about all that technical stuff... SWBF2 isnt realistic... A Tie Interceptor PWNS the Tie Fighte in the movies... in SWBF2 the Tie Defender is really weak compared to a Tie Fighter. After all it will be his choice to make it accurate or not, so you may just as well accept what he chooses ;)

Yeah, the reality is this is a game, so drop it.

Bandu works really hard, and he does quality stuff. The model, the weapons, the handling... everything.

That being said: Anymore arguing over the matter will result in a warning. Just trust Bandu to do a good job and let it go.

I was just telling Bandu plain facts so theres a better view on the situation, no need to go crazy

Any ways, Lord Bandu what you could do sense theres probally no chance for 3 weapons is this. Make 2 models, one with 6 lasers + ion canons and one modified one with 6 lasers + missile launchers. Both could spawn in a hanger. You might not want to do that since its sort of complicated though.

by Lord-Bandu
Its not complicated but I dont think il do it. After the Defender has been out for a bit il release the source files so people can do what they want to it.

The thing about the rock and the hummer is exactly what im saying btw. In space you could tap a hummer with your finger and it would move... it would carry on at the same speed and in the same direction forever untill the same or a bigger force is applied to the opposiste side of the hummer.

Theres no need for aerodynamics in space.

So , yea in reality a Super Star Destroyer could move like an Awing....but only in space.

This is of course unless scientists have discovered that gravity exists in space :P

The Defender was in the good OLD 'TIE FIGHTER' game for DOS. It was an awsome flight sim back in the day, was updated over the old X-Wing.

Anyways, the Defender had 4 laser cannons on the lower wings, and 2 ions on the top 2 prongs, and finally concussion missile launchers on the 'chin'.

It had moderate shields, and sometimes even beam weapons. It was a fast and agile fighter that you only got to use near the end of the game. It's problem was it transfered energy from one system to another slower than normal fighters, and had a larger profile.

The A-Wing is the fastest fighter out there, even with all power to engines the Defender was like 20 kph slower than those damned A-wings. Once got an interceptor within 50 kph of an A-wing top speed...

As always EU shifts it's 'facts' about, but as far as I know TIE Fighter was the first appearance of this awsome fighter.

Update: around..30-40% on the Ion Cannons :D

p.s- I'm not sure about if there's gravity in space or not. But if a ship gets too close to a planet, it'll get pulled down and eventually get heavier and heavier. Note that I said "too close"

I think there is gravity... Think of Y-Wing/V-Wing bombs (secondary)

And the falling players when you glitch out of the hangar as a unit.

Whilst there is gravity in the game , -_- and myself were talkin about reality :D

Reality for your: Your Starfighters start on fire, while in space there is no Oxygen. Logical?

Looking forward to this in Kuat Ship yard like you suggested in EaW forum.

Meh, George Lucas has said that the Star Wars Galaxy works differently to ours. Which is why, for example, you can hear sounds in space. But he HAS made it clear that there is little or no oxygen in space, explosions only last a few seconds unless there is a large source from inside a ship feeding them. With the exception of the 2nd Battle of Coruscant (Episode III) where the battle was fought in atmosphere.

Anyway , enough of this.

Everyone needs a companion and the TIE Defender is no different.

Tie Raptor

Sensitive handling , high acceleration , medium speed, low armor , 4 lasers , missiles and small lol .

I want this guy to be kinda elusive and nimble . Basically a sneaky little get.

His handling is sensitive to the point when you turn he goes flying off screen (gonna fix this) . It is fun to play with tho.

The only problem I have is that the ai dont seem to use the flyers (defender , geo fanblade and raptor ) in space maps ? . They get in them and fly about on ground maps but in space they just stand next to them :(

Anyone got an idea ? iv tried upping the flyer mem pools in the lua but it doesnt do anything. Do you have to do something to get ai to fly in space?

Wow it's going to be 'Attack of the TIEs'.

Nice work as always, my friend.

Flyer Splines?

Edit: also, a quick search on google revealed to me this (if you bother no big deal but just to make it as accurate as fiction goes..) the raptors wings were lower on the fuselage and more vertically angled than they currently are.

ps. check pms

Very nice Raptor. However im curious to what you have in sotre for the rebals to counter thse. (if you put it in a map)

Hmm.. Oh, wait prolly the E-wing or somthing like that...
