How do you add bigger capital ship interiors? I heard somewhere, you have to use terrain cutters. I don't know how to work terrain cutters. And i don't see any terrain cutters. So when you want to make a capital ship with large interiors, You have to make an opening or hole to attach the hallway/door or whatever. right? well, than my question is.. how? :P

Nope... you'd have to create new halls and everything. Very involved process unfortunately.

But how do you make a new hole in the wall? And you have to model/make your own hallway? You can't just copy an ODF from the Tantive IV or something and place it in your space?

You don't need a hole in the wall. You only need terrain cutters when you need to cut through terrain.

Also, terrain cutters are part of objects, not an actual tool to cut terrrain with.

You could certainly peice together tantive and the standard space peices (just suggestions - not saying these are the only things) to build an interior. To do it right, you'd need a lot of custon models (or I guess 1 big one..whatever works..).

But do you have to move the terrain cutters?

@pvt parts: ? You mean make a Tantive IV? And make my own hangers? And I also want to make interiors for frigates, but i don't know how to make an opening in the side or top for the hanger. :P

Terrain cutters wouldn't work. They are built into specific models and only cut thru terrain. PvtParts has the best answer. Scratch-built models. Lots of them. That's why nobody has done it.

So.... I have to peice together my ship to do it? If so.... I shall be the first one to do it!!! 8)

I'm having trouble "piecing" my ship together. they won't even go together.

Thats the reason why few have attempted to do this. Tantive models are made for the tantive, not the cis flagship. So they may not fit perfectly with the existing cap ship interior models (hanger/crit systems).

You best bet would be to find a really really nice modeller to make you a few general (meaning they arent specific to a capital ship or team) models, and you'd peice them together however you wanted.

You could talk to xwingguy and see what he had going for the interiors of his ships.

ok, Who's a good modeller here now a days... hmmm... And i would love to talk to X wingguy, but didn't he leave? :? I think master Skywalker made bigger interiors. I'll ask him :P

never new xwingguy left. my mistake. but, if you can find his thread around somewhere, and the screens still work, you may be able to get some ideas on how its done.

I looked at the screens but they don't really help. And all the good modellers have left :( Now... who IS a good modeller? :?

I don't have the xsi, otherwise I'd be modling like no one's buisness. And to my knowledge X-Wing didn't leave permenently.

OnTopic: I thought psych0fred made a tut on how to make a terrain cutter, I'll check into it.

Oooh. I want to get XSI, but you have to download it? I wonder how you model... but that's getting off topic :P

I'm not going to waste time reading all the other posts but Xwing told me (before he left)(he was making the Battle Over Endor map) that you just use existing objects. You just have to line them up perfectly so that the doorways match up...the snap togehter feature doesn't work for that. If the hallways or doors don't match up (which is often the case) then you use XSI to basically make a connection piece to accomodate the two. :P

ohhh... do you have XSI?
