How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.
these look both really good! nicely raw and handmade.
the feet of the workbench are constructed a little impractical though, why would one want to cut out a large part? nevertheless it looks cool

Still, I have a suggestion for your mod if interested.... I have been developing a new game mode for the Commandos called "Black Opps"....
Thanks, I think there are quite a lot of RC ideas in the community
Thanks for the opinions. I'll try out brightening/fading that wood texture a bit...I kinda like it dark, but you're probably right.
Do any of you guys have any really good grunge/scratch/other brush sets you'd recommend for a beginning texturer such as myself? I do have one good set of scratch brushes, but I'd like to get some more...
EDIT:
Having made it a lot paler, I agree with you TNA. Here's some pics:

I also went a bit crazy with my super high res grunge brush and just sprayed everywhere. There's not really any method to my grunging, but there probably should be.
They all have AO bakes. And I'm using blender so that wouldn't help anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though, they are really handy/give a lot of depth/realism to a texture.

Layers make things sooo easy.

Not sure that I like this one as much when it's faded...
They can actually be pretty fun to do once you get the hang of them. I'm not really a very good texturer, but it helps to find a few good brushes and textures to use as your base, then just combine and edit them in gimp/PS till you get what you want. Just add some layers and masks, and textures are your best friends.
What I hate at texturing is the UV unmapping, because I suck at it I actually quite like the Gimp part, but if you unwrap it rubbish you can't do the texture very well.
