Yeah, the flood have always creeped me out too
. Not really their appearance, but the idea of a semi-to-fully sentient species of parasites that want nothing more... well, and nothing less, than to devour us all and make us mindless slaves.

Seconded. It's really the first game I played which ever scared me. And it scared me alot.Karnage wrote:I'm gonna have to agree with guru and Fingerfood. Half-Life 2 is the creepiest game I've played yet. It always freaks me out when something jumps out at you and they're either really close and you feel you have no control or can't shoot them instantly, or when they make creepy sounds and run at you. Those fast zombies and the legless zombies always give me the heebie jeebies.
The feeling in that game is just awesome.

... You know what I believe was supposed to be creepy in Half-Life 2 and wasn't? The ridiculously long ride in that ummm... "people cart" during the "Our Benefactors" level. Boooooring. (well, mostly just really, really long) But yeah, HL2 has a lot of "holy crap" moments, which are the only kind of scares I really like. Quake 4 had a few of those too -- it also had a tiny bit of creepyness, but since I had played through Quake 2 many times I just told myself it was hi-res versions of what I had seen before.

Nobody's going to call you a coward for that, that game is one of the creepiest things ever, I get scared watching trailers of it.NullCommando wrote:Call me a coward.. But, Dead Space. I tried it. Nuff said.

In case anyone hasn't played through, I'll hide my response.Teancum wrote:... You know what I believe was supposed to be creepy in Half-Life 2 and wasn't? The ridiculously long ride in that ummm... CONTAINS PARTS FROM THE END OF HL2!

I began playing Half Life, when I was sick at camp with a buddy and we were in the isolation room and he had a laptop. So we started the game, and we climb out of the wierd hole thing that exploded and did lots of damage at the beggining, and wham! Headcrab! We start freakin out, scramblin for the mouse and buttons, and we decided to not play that game anymore, and instead play a podracing game.

Thanks, and yeah, for some reason I don't get nightmares from scary things, when I watch/play/see something scary, my hearing gets super sharp and I hear EVERYTHING. Oh, and HL2, only three things scared me, the fast Zombies ( mostly the scream they do ), some parts of Ravenholm ( You just gotta love Fater Grigori! ), and Lowlife. ( though the end was actually very cool )Taivyx wrote:Nobody's going to call you a coward for that, that game is one of the creepiest things ever, I get scared watching trailers of it.NullCommando wrote:Call me a coward.. Re: Scariest games you have ever played!
That part scared me quite a bit. Mainly because whenever you ran out of flashlight power, zombies started making creepy noises uncomfortably close to you. And once you did get flashlight power back, a zombie would be right in front of you or running right at you ready to slash you.Fingerfood wrote:I think Lowlife wasn't that scary either. I think it was kind of an extreme Ravenholm. With Ravenholm, for me, I wasn't that scared just because it got so insane. By the end, I was laughing like Father Grigori. But Lowlife, especially the end, just got so insane that it wasn't scary, but just hard. I died like 10 times trying to get into that freaking elevator!
-EDIT-
I have to say that Zombie Master is a fairly creepy game too. The Immolators are the creepiest. Especially when the Zombie Master spawns them right behind you. They scream their heads off with the highest pitched inhuman scream ever and then they burst into flame and run at you. Great multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2 though.

Re: Scariest games you have ever played!
Yea Immolators are really scary. Perhaps the worst (beyond the scream) part is how fast they move. The new feature of Banshees being able to cling to the ceiling is pretty surprising aswell. There have been several times since the update that I've opened a door to have a Banshee drop infront of me.Karnage wrote:

I thought Left4Dead would be scary, it actually wasn't very scary, it's actually fun when you play Co-Op. So, I still fear Dead Space lol.

Re: Scariest games you have ever played!
I was 11, home alone, at night, in the dark. Playing Dark Forces for the first time!
That was freaky. DF was the first FPS that I played. It felt like everyone was hiding. Just waiting for me to turn my back. Then I started hearing noises in the house.
It ranks right up there as one of the scariest situations of my life.
But I'm so over that now... Or I was... until I played Bioshock. That game is sick. And not in the good way.
