Various Problems/Errors

Okay. I am completely new to SWBF2 modding. I've got a series of questions, problems, and erros that I would like solved, if at all possible. Here we go;
I am attempting to edit the Dark Trooper. Here is what I want to do: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34896228/imp_in ... rooper.odf
Now, editing the ODF wasn't the problem, obviously. The problem for me was getting it into the game. I know I've got to munge it. So, I created a test map. Namely the default one you get when you open ZeroEditor, as I can not map for the life of me. Saved it, added in the sides as I should (I think), clicked on the VisualMunge thing. It did its stuff. Or so I thought.
I went to the new folder (XXX) and was going to take the side from it and overwrite the default with it. (After making a backup, of course) But, I got into LVL/PC, and it was completely empty.
That was the first problem. The second is as follows;
Determining that something was wrong, I decided to try my luck at Hex Editing. I found the Dark Trooper in the imp.lvl file and gave it the health, jump pack, and 4 of the six weapons I wanted. (I don't know how to add more)
I started up the BFModTools and got this; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34896228/BFront2.log
Obviously I did something wrong again.
Now, I would like a solution to preferably the Hex Edit problem. I'd like to learn how to Hex Edit the sides to I can make similiar, personal mods for myself. So, can anyone help me?
