The mark of a true artist, great job bro. You have come such a long way with it and dare I say this is one of the coolest looking republic commando models done for battlefront. Espcially one done by scratch like yours.

I've made some small changes to the RC model. Here's what has changed:
- Helmet (top)
- Helmet UVs and texture (top)
- Forearm
- Forearm texture
- Improved topology for upper leg
- Grey texture changed slightly
- Reduced amount of materials to 3 (visor, armor, under armor)
- Under armor UVs changed for more texture support
*download link updated
Please note that the new model isn't 100% backwards compatible with texture for the previously released model. Most parts can be copied and pasted over. Just watch for the top of the head, upper forearm, and under armor.

Thank you for improving most of the parts i disliked. Not sure if you improved the helmet shape enought. I cannot see it in the msh viewer clearly. It jitters red. But i'll tell you after i imported it to XSI to add my addons.
Thank you for reducing the amount of materials. But you didn't made it for the tubes backpack.
Haven't you said somewhere there will be an specular map??
==EDIT==
just compared your v1 with v2 and my reference. The new one is much better, specialy the UVing. But it seams that you changed nothing on the shape. there images explain what i mean.
It's nothing exact, i took the screenshots and compared the pt. But you can see clearly that the reference is much elongate than your one
And here you can see that the reference is not that high and expanded. That gives your RC compared to the reference an little ki adi mundi looking.

Ok maybe i hyperbolism a bit.
But i just have a new problem. I modifyed the textures, added bump/specular maps, changed the UVings (just the Visor to have a smaller tga that just contains the visor texture),... so just things i did to your old model, too.
BUt now it is ingame and there is no envelope. I tryed to reimport your model to xsi, but there is no Envelope as well. So next i'll try to put your unchanged model in my game, but maybe you can check it as well if you forgot the UVings.
==EDIT==
just put your RC from the download (without any modifications by me) in the game, and it has no envelope

Could someone else try the updated model ingame? It seems to be working fine for me.

Kind of new, but how does one put the backpack on the model in game ? Right now I only have the Commando model (which is great by the way) without his pack, not sure what to do to put it on him.

Why thank you!
You will need to add this to your unit's ODF file
Code: Select all
AnimatedAddon = "BAKCPACK" //this name can be whatever you want it to be
GeometryAddon = "nameofgeometry" //name of your addon msh
AddonAttachJoint = "bone_ribcage" //this is the bone the addon will attach to
I can't remember the name of the backpack geometry, but it is included in the pack.

My map sadly bit the dust before you got back to me so I have to mess around getting the Commando working again, thanks for replying ! I have this fear that the mod community is not around to much these days so I am glad that it seems some of you are still around.
EDIT
Got it working ! Thanks ! Also any chance you have the assets for the DC-17m as well ?
