Hello all,
Working through the modding, and just got a great idea for a new map. More on that later.
However, right now I am still trying to fix the black square around your character in a map. I have read about getting a grayscale and putting it in box 0 in the texture page, but I am apparently doing something wrong.
I took a texture .tga file, opened it in PhotoShop, and converted it to grayscale. Put it in box 0, no change.
Am I supposed to go over the entire map in that, then put other textures over it? Or is there something else with a grayscale that I am missing?
If you can provide a quick answer on how to create the grayscale and use it correctly, I would greatly appreciate it. Or, if you have the grayscale .tga file handy, if you could email it to me at [email protected] I would appreciate that also.
Thanks in advance,
Jetsi

Hello?
Hello, anybody?
Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Anybody? Rends, Teancum, Lord Bandu, Majin Revan, Saturn V?
I figure this has to be easy to fix, and I am just doing something obviously stupid, but not obvious enough for me to see.

RE: Hello?
under the Texture box add this in the box under it
kas2_bump.tga
Or some sorta _bump texture. Make sure its in your world folder. Thats what I do and I belive it works.

No Joy NegativeSmiley
Brought over kas2_bump.tga and kas2_bump.option.tga, put the non-option in box 0 for a texture, still did it.
Covered entire map in bump texture, still did it!
Any other ideas, or is there something really simple that I could be missing?
Thanks,
Jetsi

Well, try putting it in box 1, usually box 0 underlays all other textures, at least thats what it does for me.

OK, tried putting it on box 1, still no changes.
This really can't be this difficult, but for some reason I can't get it fixed. So, at this time that is going to the back of my list of important things, and I am going to try to at least get this out as a beta within the next week. And if the black spot is there, so be it.
One thing I have seen and haven't messed with is in the sky files. I noticed in the one created by BFBuilder there is a line that has the geo1_bump in it. Do you think I would have to change that line as well? Seems weird, since I am trying to do something on the ground with a sky file. Who knows.
But thanks to everybody who has posted and tried to help.

Just wanted to post a small discovery I made regarding the black blob.
I normally play with my video options on Medium, because my comp just isn't that high end. When I put them to High to take pics for my mod, the black blob went away. Back on Medium, the blob appeared. Also, when I made the changes for the pics I took my shadows from low to high.
That might explain the black blob, or some of it. A little more research and testing is needed.
