Jedi with guns

how do i get a jedi to have a gun i got it so ai use guns but with the jedi having no button to swich attacks humans cant use them what do i change to get the lable of a unit to change from jedi to like a basic unit ?

the gun has to be a secondary weapon

Yes, but then that unit can't have any secondary attacks. (this way, you can only have your unit use a melee weapon and a gun)

I thought there were no restrictions, as long as you made the gun the default weapon (the weapon the jedi spawns with, weapon slot 1) and the melee weapon in another slot (like slot 2). It doesn't have to be a secundairy (right mouse-click) weapon.

If you do it the other way around (melee weapon for starters, then gun) you can't switch back again. Then again, it has been 2 years since I modded a bit :P

Yeah i think you're right Emp, i'm pretty sure i made a unit a while ago with both in primary weapon slots. this was almost a year ago so i can't remember if that was right.....

@MSWF - Are you sure about the no secondary weapons? so you're saying you can't have any force powers as well as 2 primary weps?

Yeah, if I remember correctly, that was one of those hardcoded things. You can set up your unit with one primary melee weapon, one primary ranged weapon and a secondary weapon, but you'll notice it won't work. (crash?)
Look at the "militia elite" from DT, for example. He has both a melee and ranged weapons as primary, but he can't have secondary weapons.

you're probably right MSWF so i'll just take your word for it :wink: i just thought i remember seeing units with both + secondary weps...........must be imagining things :)

The militia unit uses a mortar, but that's also a primary weapon, remember? :)

Idk why people say you can't have secondary weapons, you can. The only thing is, [secondary fire] becomes [block] and [reload] becomes [secondary fire] unless the seconday weapon is itself reloading, empty, overheating, delayed. Then it is still [reload] the original [block] button becomes [crouch]. It is very possible but it is confusing and difficult to get used to.

Yeah, I didn't either till one day I tried to make a guy with blaster, saber, wristrocket and pushed buttons and weird stuff happened :D

Same here.
Atm my Vizsla is blocking with darksaber when you press wrist rocket (secondary weap) :o :lol:

so if i make him have no secondary weps and make the gun his default wep it should work?

but how do i make him able to change weps cuz jedi controols have no change first wepon how would i change his lable for what class of controlls he uses

and i am not sure but i thought i saw that luke in mavs dt2 trailer had a gun lightsaber and secondary weps

You can do it either way, and in Dark Times I did. In that video, you saw Luke with a melee weapon as a primary weapon and a blaster as a secondary, because that works the best for his running animations. The regular units in Dark Times have multiple primary weapons but no secondary weapons (and of the primaries, one is a melee weapon) because I wanted the user to switch weapons to use a melee weapon, and they don't run as fast so the animation issue isn't as relevant.

The best way to do it is probably all as primary weapons. It keeps things simplest and you'll be fine so long as you make the melee weapon not the first weaponsection.
