I'm pretty much all new to the whole modding scene of Battlefront 2. I've been trying out a couple of tutorials I found on the internet, and I decided to make some sort of testing world I could use for further experimentation. This is the tutorial I followed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtBVBZ84bRo. The problem is; when I munge it with the modtools, everything seems to be succesful (everything works, I get the message 'Go and run Battlefront II!'), but when I decide to test it out I can't find my map anywhere in the list. I've tried this times and times again, with different tutorials but I can't seem to get my map in there.. Help please!
Thanks a bunch!
I'll try it out and edit my message afterwards, hope it works!
EDIT: Tried it, but my map still didn't show up in the list.. But I decided to test wether I could play custom maps, so I downloaded two custom maps, put them in my Addon folder and they both didn't show up in the list either. Maybe the munge/modtool isn't my problem since I can't seem to get other maps in there as well?
hmm in your addon folder is there something that looks like : AAA-v1.3patch?
You need that first before any other maps. If you do have that make sure that it installed correctly.
My help would be when you click on the menu bat, make sure It has a list of options for you do to such as remove hud and uninstall v1.3patch. If not then it did not install correctly.
Yes.. I already had the 1.3 patch installed before but I decided to reinstall it anyway, but sadly enough I still couldn't get my maps in.. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling my Battlefront 2, making a new world and then remunge it..
hmm sry I don't know what the problem is then.
I am just a newbie too. try one of serious modders or just google it.
I have a problem with my munge making the level files.
Hope you find someone who can help. May the 4rce be with you,
Jimmy
The FAQ / Everything You Need Thread Version 2.0 wrote:Question #6 - I'm using Vista or Windows 7 and I munged my new map but it isn't showing up here:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon
so where is it?
Answer - Your newly munged map might have been copied to this location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon
or click on the Compatibility Files button in the Addon folder.
To enable VisualMunge access to your Battlefront folder use this tutorial.
EDIT:
Maybe not considering what you said about other people's maps not working, but it's worth a shot none the less.
@theultimat
Thanks! Well I didn't find my munged map in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon, so maybe that's already something, but I can't find a Lucasarts-folder in my Virtualstore..
EDIT: The 'compatability files' option doesn't show up either.
what i'm wondering is that also other maps are not shown up. You say you installed the v1.3 patch. please go to Single player maps and in the lower left corner is there in the box an orange text?? if not the v1.3 isn't installed (or you removed manual the movie). Also the era icons (rep vs cis / imp vs all) should be smaller than it was before the v1.3 install. can you confirm this??
Do you mean the box down on the left in Instant Action? When I click on stock maps it does say 'Official SWBF2 Map'.. And I didn't notice the era icons get scaled down, I'm pretty sure they are still the same size as before I installed the 1.3 patch.. But in the right hand corner there is a line saying 'Star Wars Battlefront 2 v1.1' (?)
EDIT: When I installed SWBF2 I did actually install some older mods I had played a couple of years back; SWBF Extreme, UB: the Clone Wars, and those mods came with a couple of custom maps that DO show up in the list..
How much maps mods do you have installed?? And what custom maps did you tested?
Is there in your C:\BF2_ModTools\data_XXX\_LVL_PC all lvl files??
There should be a
mission.lvl,
core.lvl,
XXX folder with an XXX.lvl file in there,
side folder with all your sides.lvl files in there
and maybe some othere stuff it depens on what you did.
