FFA - how possible in Battlefront II?

How possible would it be to have FFA - Free For All (in other words, everyone vs. everyone) - in SWBF II? I know it's impossible to add more than the two playable teams, but that wouldn't be an issue if you could change teamkills to count as kills.

Did anyone ever try it? I'd love to see that kind of JKA-like maps but combined with more FPS action. :music:

Edit: Sorry for possible grammar errors, very tired at the moment.

There is. If you have the Convo Pack installed, go play Deathmatch on Tantive IV. It's a little buggy, but it's an awesome game mode.

Hey, sounds cool, when I have fixed my comp I will get the convo pack right away.

Exactly, in what ways is it buggy?

Well, the last time I played it, I killed one of my "team mates" and instantly died myself. I remember Zerted pointed out some rules and stuff for the mode, I forget.

Er, at least, I think it's buggy. I couldn';t really tell. It may have just been that it seemed sorta like a hackjob with some things that were going on (No offense Zerted/whoever made the mode if it wasn't zerted)

Oh yeah, the Deathmatch game mode by Zerted was a complete hack.

The seemingly crazy rules were added to keep the AI (and other humans) from instantly killing everyone. In pure deathmatch, when more then one unit spawns at the same point, they turn and kill each other without taking another step. If humans played, whoever shot a rocket at their feet the fastest would win. People wouldn't even stay alive long enough to drop a mine on themselves, the rocket would explode before the mine hit the ground.

The first version of Deathmatch had everyone spawning, then 15 seconds later everyone would fight for around 30 seconds. Next, there would be another 15 second break to allow everyone to who died to respawn and run around again, then another 30 second fight session, and over and over.

I tried to improve on that. The 'latest' Deathmatch gives everyone who just spawned some time to move about the map. After that time, the new units are moved onto a 3rd team. The 3rd team is an enemy of itself, so everyone on the 3rd team attacks everyone else on the 3rd team. Once you are on the 3rd team, there is no break in the killing. However, if you kill someone on the 1st or 2nd team (those who have just spawned) then the game mode automatically kills you for 'spawn camping'. The timer shows you how much time is left until the current new units are moved onto the 3rd team.

I guess I could have slowly spawned one unit every couple of seconds, but I didn't think of that until right now...

If all you want to do is get points when you kill a team mate, change points.lua. However, you will still see the -1 team kill even though you don't lose points. I don't know if the server may still boot you for team kills, even though you have positive points. That was the one thing I never tested.

Well, I guess I didn't use the word "hackjob" correctly. How it worked kind of confused me and I never completely understood it, and so it seemed like you came up with some crazy workaround, and it worked.

I never liked it. Deathmatch should be about killing anything that moves, not waiting around so you could fight. You shouldn't need to read something to figure out how to play.
