Game Resources

Post by Sardine »

Hi all, I just bought the game several weeks ago and have started in on the editing my own levels. I've read through most of the documentation and have been able to add objects and edit the terrain etc with success.

It all seems quite strait forward and fairly simple.
my question is this (just to set the record strait):

It seems to me that it is necessary to add every single resource that I reference in my world to my level directory. Even if it is a resource that is shipped with the game and used in other levels. Is this true? Or have I missed something along the way?

If I am mistaken, how do I determine which resources I need to copy to my level folders and how would I reference them if this is not necessary?

Thanks for your time!

Yeah, you've gotta add them to your level folders even if they're stock models, etc.

See, though you may know that you're using assets such as a Geonosis terrain or a Rhen Var model, but the game doesn't...or where you want it placed. ;)

Hey thanks!

Seems like there would be a less-space-consuming way of doing that, but then again I didn't program the game so I can't complain. :D

Everything in the Common folder is already in your map. You don't need to copy those files into the world folder.

Sides are a common element. You do not need to include a side unless you are changing it.

Hah, yeah it is. Stone guy = Onua. The new ones are lame. I still buy sets though and tear them apart and make new stuff. My more recent stuff? Here. Older stuff? Here. (Note that these are of lesser quality :P)

What he says is true. What I said is true regarding models, and ODFs.

If you are adding ew sides, add the new folders, if not leave them out; if you are adding new buildings or probs, then add the folders, if not, leave it out.

P.S. Its geeky, but bionicle is awesome! The old ones all the way man! I agree also that the new ones suck, because after the bohrok, the guys look weird and have no point to them, all the old ones were based on a story, and after the bohrok, the story becomes weird and falls apart.

Well said.

Okay, now people, if we wish to discuss further, please make a topic in The "Off Topic..." section.
