Squeaky 360 controller

Anyone know how to fix this? I bought the Spartan Halo 3 controller ($$$), and the right thumbstick squeaks (loudly) whenever I move it. Is there any way to alleviate this problem?
Take it back to the store for a replacement?
Or try some WD-40.
