Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
Here's a vehicle I made up, the ICX-81 starfighter. My brother and I decided to model it a while back but I didn't texture it until recently because I had completely forgotten about the model.

Looking pretty swish!
Do you have a bump/normal map and/or specular map going on anywhere?

At first I thought it looked a bit odd in xsi, but the ingame pics make it look really cool!

Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
It does look odd in XSI I will be upgrading the texture: gloss, bump map, and some other things. I also might make a shadowvolume model as well.Cleb wrote:At first I thought it looked a bit odd in xsi
Thanks.Cleb wrote:the ingame pics make it look really cool!
-EDIT-
Here's another model (Player model), different compared to most models

Holy exceedingly high amounts of unnecessary edges Batman! I don't even know how to put it in words, but basically, there isn't any reason to have that many edges. So many don't even contribute to the shape at all.
I can't say I was any better whatsoever when I first started modeling, I was having the exact same edges.
Basically you don't want to use Subdivide for adding more edges, to start with anyway.

It looks alright, it could use some work. One of the things that really stood out was the magazine.
It also looks like you made it our of cylinders, and that's a bad, bad idea. A magazine like that should be made with a cube.

Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
It's understandable. A few minutes to work each day can be fruitful over time though.

Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
It's kinda messy with those vertex's in the center of each part creating tons of odd triangles. Why not just delete those couple of vertex's and use the edge draw tool '\' to have either horizontal or vertical edges so that it's all quads?THEWULFMAN wrote:It looks alright, it could use some work. Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
I wont do that because the weapon dont worth the work i put into this, and during the modeling time, i learned a lot so this stupid curve/Loft method for weapons wont be redone.
