Custom game modes in dedicated server? :o

Post by Marth8880 »

I'd very much like to add the missions with custom game modes (e.g., TDM mode for the Prothean Skyway or Siege mode for the maps that support it in R3) to the map list in MEU's dedicated server (which uses the Black Bag Ops Server Manager), but they don't show up in the map list to begin with. From what I've read here on GT, the server manager reads in the missions from the mission.lvl file, which is good to know I guess. :P Also, I've FTP'd the 1.3 patch's common.lvl, ingame.lvl, and shell.lvl files to the server's GameData\data\_lvl_pc\ directory (which I heard is required in order to run the Convo Pack), so that shouldn't be an issue. I've also tried adding the missions to the server's Maps.cfg file but that didn't work either.

My main question is thus: How does one add missions with game modes that use IDs other than 1flag, a.ss, con, ctf, eli, or hunt to the server manager map list? TDM's ID is tdm and Siege's is siege, both of which are supported by the 1.3 patch.

What have you tried so far? Because if I recall correctly, all you should need to do is install the v1.3 patch to your dedicated server manager as if it were your SWBF2 directory (it edits the gamedata and adds the addon all the same), and it should support it, but I'm going to guess you've already tried it and I'm probably wrong.

Basically, it's been a long time since I've played with SWBF2SM and I don't remember what works and what doesn't.

I've tried basically everything outlined in the first post. Also, I just tried uploading the 1.3 patch's files to the server and it still didn't fix the issue. :(

If no one else responds, I'll dust my server manager off and run some tests when I get home tonight (will be late, early Captain America showing ftw). I'll get back to you.

Before I go any further, I'm gonna ask if you have the 1.10 version of the server managers. Not just the 1.1 version, the 1.10 patched version. http://www.fileplanet.com/184555/180000 ... r-v1.1-GUI

If so, good. Moving on.

Okay, for now, try joining the server ingame and adding them manually. Maybe it'll trigger something else that simply adding it to the Maps.cfg doesn't?

1) /admin /login <adminpw>
2) /admin /addmap <mapcode>
3) /admin /nextmap <mapcode> (this one's not necessary, but it ensures the next map is the one you added, so you don't have to go through the entire rotation to test)

It should be noted that this may or may not work. I just tried it for hot1g_xl (because you can't add Hoth XL mode to the server rotation through the server manager, but it's still a valid game mode in the vanilla installation of SWBF2. HOWEVER, I'm not sure if it works the same for non-vanilla game modes.)

Also, I realize this is a workaround and not a solution. Sorry. I'm still gonna look into it, but I may not find anything.
