lol this helms deep mod/map is my first map/mod project i have ever done in my life (excluding starcraft maps...lol but that's noobish stuff) I was just really curious about making models/maps and all sorts of modding...so i just started this project

im not exactly sure what you mean bo portions but if you wan't to make it bigger/expand it then I'll work on that unless you have it figure out already lol. and secondly weapons im not sure how to do those. I'll chek the tutorials and stuff to see if it helps. but stuff like texturing/skinning for the weapons i unno how to do...at all(to make them shiny and stuff) and lastly when you have the portions rite or wtv, lemme know cuz i wanna start getting the destruction anims for the middle wall

Just an update on the buildings:
OK so as they stand now we are thinking that the citadel walls are going to be about 30 units high. In comparison the average unit is 2 units high and the average ewok, 1.
The actual wall for helms deep is 15 units high and almost certainly will have destructable parts.

Ok, this will be sick. CAN'T WAIT 'till it's done. And just for the record, I can't skin a Uruk-Hai. It's too confusing and junk. Bac-Talan, it's all up to you... Meh, I tried.
Idea #1:
I know that earlier in this topic, someone said that you could use Bothan Spies because they have pointy ears, and junk, but couldn't you just edit some regular solder (whatever soldier you're using), and add a point to their ears??

Sorry if someone mentioned this already.
Idea #2:
Would it be possible, instead of the Riders of Rohan being there the whole time, to make a timer set for like 5 minutes, and when the time is up, the Command Post on the hill is activated(or something), and the Riders of Rohan come?
Idea #3:
Would it be possible, instead of using a fusion cutter, changing it to a wrench, or some other tool that they might have had, and that would be their "fusion cutter"?

I'm so pumped for this map!

Ok two things:
1. This map isnt even close to being done so i wouldnt get
that pumped for it. It is gonna be cool though.
2. I like the idea about the Rohan Riders coming after a preset amount of time, were already planning on that.
There an integral part of the battle. (idk if theyll be on horses though) But how the battle will generally work is that the Defenders will start out with a small amount of people and at a general disadvantage to the attackers. If they hold out long enough the Rohan Riders (or maybe the Rohan Runners

) will appear on the horizon and come to their aid. But just be sure to note that the Rohan Riders arent the definitive word about who wins the battle. For example, just because the defenders hold out until the predetermined time limit doesnt mean that they will automatically win. The Orc army can still win even after the Riders appear. It will be tougher for the attackers to win once they appear, but if the Orc army is already up in the Citadel when they show up then theyll have a definatetly easier go at it. On the other hand, if they havent made any headway and are still sitting on plains when the RR's show up then theyre pretty much screwed.

If you were to get the Rohan "Riders" on horseback (or Kaadu-back), how would you get all of the soldiers to get a horse?

Naw, I really don't think I could do horses, the best will probably have them spawn at the bottom of the mountain like they just dismounted.

n0bs: ya, if you could PLEASE do weapons, we really need them. I've made a basic list of what I could use on one or two pages ago. Thanks for coming back too

lol yea weapons... lol sure im prolly gonna be working with jabbaloveslava with the weapons umm but i donno how to add dmg region, anims, where the person hold the weapon etc. so im gonna need some info on that

Well, I am doing the sides and such, all I need is weapons modeled, textured (even if the textures aren't great, I can fix them later, as long as they're there) and exported. I can take it from there. (Please make sure to put in stuff like a firepoint at the top of the handle and anything else needed to make a melee weapon work.) BTW, A melee weapon has an invisible lightsaber blade coming from the handle right?

Ok, Updates:
1. I got the animations (still using a lightsaber though

) for a Rohin Foot Soldier. (looks like no helmet though, It just doesn't look good)
2. I got a crossbow working. (bowcaster is HUGE on normal troops: it looks cool) Going to have 1 shot clip, still can charge, getting shot with it will really hurt (one hit kill to head), ok scope, carry plenty of ammo, moderate reload ('bout 1 second)
3. working on the orc texture:

Ok update time
Ive been working alot on the citadel but as of now its still in its earliest stages. When im done with this im hoping to give this sucker as much detail as a shipped map

For real, think Rhen Var, Citadel (lol). Aesthetics aside, im also trying to include a large tactical element to the Citadel as I mod it. Im not just doing this from the whole "what looks cool?" standpoint (although it will undoubtedly look cool

), im also doing this from the "what would be fun to play?" Standpoint.
Im just posting this to give you guys a taste of how the Citadel is shaping up. Also if youve got any simple ideas for designing the Citadel feel free to suggest. But seriously keep them simple, if you post something like "make the citadel blow up when you break through the gate!!!!!!!!!!!" ill ignore you. Im looking for suggestions like, "the insides would be really cool w/ this" or "heres and idea of something to put on the top". Stuff like that
Keep in mind while looking that this is a preliminary version at best, ive still got about 1000 things to do.
Oh and btw, the interior of the citadel
will be playable. Enjoi.
