Windows Movie Maker=[Diet Dr. Pepper]?

Post by redgroupclan »

My Windows Movie Maker...runs like complete [Diet Dr. Pepper]. It freezes up, like, every 5 minutes, usually...When it becomes unresponsive, I try closing it using the close button on the right-click menu on the tab on the taskbar. Guess what happens? When I click the 'close' button, the menu goes away and the button freezes onto my screen blue right after I click on it. Oh, the problems also happened once the other day with one of the save buttons.
Not only that, but sometimes the program freezes when I try to click the save button that turns the movie file into a video...
Want the newest problem? The other day I was trying to make a Spongebob music video (yes, haha) and when I placed a clip in, I played it. What did it play? A freeze frame of Squidward that lasted 10 seconds, and on that clip the music wouldn't play. I was like "What?! I havent even used that scene yet!" I tried deleting the clip and putting in new ones over and over, but the problem still persisted, so I ended up deleting the video. Now Im making a new one, but the same problem has risen again, in a different form, and I think this time the music still plays.

Is Windows Movie Maker SUPPOSED to be this [Diet Dr. Pepper]y, or is it just that my computer is a piece of [Diet Dr. Pepper] too?
Does anyone else have problems with Windows Movie Maker?
I so wanna buy Sony Vegas...

no problems

Go it the microsoft website, search for Windows Movie Maker.

edit:

well.. here, since their is 2 versions, one is for
vista (Download and install, dont uninstall previous version):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 8fc0f80cfc

and the other is the live movie maker. If you have XP or 7 this is the best bet.

Windows Movie Maker is... just, not good.
In my experience, it's always been full of bugs and crashes and whatnot.

There aren't many free movie-making programs out there, but if you can find out, use it, not WMM.

Yes, Dohnutt. That is true about WMM.
But last time I tried doing a Google search for free video programs, every website that came up was marked bad by McAfee Site Advisor. You just reminded me I need to search for a free video program again through the Site Advisor search engine. :)

Apparently Jahshaka is a good one: http://jahshaka.org/
And there's also:

http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/
http://www.virtualdub.org/

This website is pretty good for finding free alternatives

Well I use WMM almost every day and I have never had any of the problems you said, nor have I had any problems at all with it.
