Gonna wait until the official release. This one's buggy and I'd rather have a few bukkit plugins, if only for server protection.

I haven't been watching this thread, so can you tell me what you mean by distributing the map files? Are you uploading the old map?

Yes he is. After we get our 1.8 server he is giving out the Old World files to people who want it.

Plus I have been playing the Pre-Release Version and I found all sorts of cool new things!

Just a suggestion: find the seed to the current world, and use the same seed for the new world - a spiritual succession of sorts.

I personally would vote against that. It's not really anything terribly new. I say you do a completely random seed.

The world generation code is ENTIRELY different. It wouldn't resemble the old map, while probably has a pretty random set of numbers for it's seed anyways.

I was actually gonna use the seed "Gametoast" or "Gametoastia". But I guess I could try to find the current seed (it actually tells me the seed every time the server starts, that was easy...)

I've been on the hunt for awesome seeds, I'll let you know of the ones I find.

Alright guys, I think it's time to move on. I can scroll up in the cmd prompt and see when I started the server. I think today, jman, spartan, and rogueknight logged on. For very little time.

Tomorrow, the server will not be up. Jens is going to update to the 1.8 pre-release and so at the end of the day (I have school all day, and it wouldn't be sensible to start the server at 8 in the evening) I will set up a vanilla 1.8 server using the latest pre-release version.

AND THEN! Once we have a real 1.8 bukkit version, we'll decide what to do then. We could start over AGAIN (with the inventories from the reset) or just keep going with the seed we get.

Sounds good. I haven't been able to do any online gaming for awhile due to high internet usage over here. Hopefully I will find a good window to start logging on sometime.

Seed suggestion for the new world: Twilight_Warrior FOR THE WIN!
Spawns you on top of a tree, with a massively huge mountain range nearby and a lava flow and overhangs and a floater and it's right by the ocean.
EDIT: I just explored the world a little. It is completely awesome. Totally, completely awesome.
