The Earthrise

Japan just published a video from one of their satellites of the "Earthrise" over the moon.

Keep in mind that the Earth doesn't really naturally "rise" on the moon (because one side always faces us in tidal lock), except near the equatorial regions, where the Earth wobbles up and down due to the moon's orbit. This rise was just due to the fact that the orbiter was...orbiting...

Am I the only one who kept mentally hearing that 2001: A Space Odyssey theme song while watching this video? I can't help it! :P

Just goes to show how tiny we are. Actually, we're MUCH tinier than that still.

We practically don't exist.

It really does put it into perspective doesn't it. (although I guess, we can never truly comprehend that, can we?)

Yet we still think of ourselves as the most important thing in the universe, the universe does not exist without "us" in it, it's all a matter of perspective, we all live in a cosmic novel where we are the protagonists and everything that happens, happens for us.

We are inexistant narcissists.
