Hi a Quick serch told me that no one had made a topic about this game so I'll just have to make one.

Stronghold 2 is a Mideavl Strategy game featuring both economic balncing and warfare.

The grapics in my opinion are quite nice...

so first and formost lets see some warfare...

As you can see the grapics certanly aren't the worst maybe not the best but still good.

now a little castle life shall we?

Here is a convicted criminal serveing his time in the gibbit for theft, as a guard watches him.

Here is a castle on the seashore

Here is a calm unassuming village

the Economic part of the game is perhaps the hardest to master
many things make the people happy or un-happy
for insatance

Un-happy
1 poop in the streets
2 rats
3 ration cuts
4 taxes
5 disese
6 ect

Happy
1 bribes
2 dubble rations
3 holding mass (bigger the better)
4 ale
5 entertainment (jousts, traveling fairs ect)

balencing your peoples happiness is KEY!

you may offer ale in taverns to boost popularity so you can tax more
or bribe your people while you cut rations to stockpile food.
aslong as people are happy they won't leave and aslong as they don't leave they will work. but you must have and keep food, fight crime, pick up the poop in the streets, kill rats and every thing else to ensure your peoples happiness... so you can tax them lol

the military portion of the game is no walk in the park eather, foes will use all sorts of methods to raize your castle to the ground, like...

assasins: who are invisible to your defences and can climb walls
Pictish boat warriors: who have small boats so they can cross rivers, seas, and lakes

horse archers: who can shoot volleys from the backs of their steeds

Knights: who are the game ecuvilent of a tank(with out the shells lol)

Axe throwers, bezerkers, pikemen, crossbowmen, macemen, light calvary, archers, and even pesants with pitchforks! and thats not even all the troop types(altho it is most)

then there are seige items catapults, trebucets, burning carts, battering rams, seige towers, and baliste

engineers can dig tunnels under your defences.

but your not alone you have your own troops your engineers can repair your wals and drop boiling oil on your foes, wall mouted devences such as burning logs, rock tippers, and rock baskets... but then again sometimes the best defence is a good offence.

if you master both halves of the game you will be ready to take on several AI opponents... Edwin, Olaf grimtooth, the hawk, the bull, the hammer, sir william, lady seren, the king, the queen, the bisop, lord gray, and a few others that I can't remember

the game has its own simple built in map editor so you can make your own maps with ease in many sinarios kingmaker (multiplayer/you vs AI)
Pease(sinarios revolving around economics) War (war duh) and Free play
(a map with no objectives or goals, just build your dream castle... then send a enemy seige to test it)

overall a great game thats only 20 dollars! Check it out!

Gameplay 8/10
Grapics 6/10 Grapics are gittin realy lifelike thease days so this one is kinda low
lasting appeal 7/10

Thank you!

Wow, nice graphics for a RTS. seems realistic (in gameplay) and like it might be fun too.
I'm not all that good at the real-time strategy game things though.
I have the strategy part down cold, but the real time is harder... Sigh, I think I need some good subordinates...:P

I used to know te devs at firefly that made the stronghold , crusader and stronghold 2 series but the least fun was stronghold 2 in my opinion , the moved the game over to a 3d engine that basically ruined the fun , asy playablility of the old style. Also if your pc isnt uber this game is a lagg fest with any real amount of troops built up. Just messy code for sure. Id say buy it if its $12 or less, until then your money is best spent on other games. just my opinion.

That game is ok, but it's nowhere near as good as Medieval Total War 2. The new Stronghold especially is awful, they've stripped it of all of its realism.

I must agree with TheTao I do not intend to ever buy SH legends

Arty: I don't have internet on my comp right now :( but I'm shootin for it as a B-day gift and I'll be 15 on the 20th of this month, so maybe soon...
you might be able to increase my skill at the game too...

Looks quiet cool, ive thought about getting it quiet a few times, but i didnt because i either didnt have any money with me, or i was buying another game that was quiet expensive.
I might get it sometime though, looks like fun.
