I'm taking a quick break from Serenity Valley to throw out a teaser for my Unification War map series. This one is in space above New Melbourne.


The I.F. will have more hardy fighters in two varieties. Both are essentially the same ship, and are heavy fighters. No bombers for the financially-deprived Independence Movement.


The Alliance, on the other hand, have the vast capital ship and have fighter and bomber type vehicles. While the Alliance can pack more of a punch in one fighter, the IF have more to throw at their mammoth opponents.


You can only see glimpses of the Alliance Assault ship in these next two pictures. It's a bit hard to get it into one shot and still have it look nice.


Plus you'll be seeing it up close when you're flying.


I have work done on the IF fighters and the Alliance capital ship. The Alliance fighter is near done as well. The sides won't take too long because I'll be using skins from Serenity Valley. The only part that should take an lengthy period of time is the IF capital ship. Any ideas?

Anyway, I will finish Serenity Valley, but I wanted a quick side project.

Thanks. I'm working on one of the IF fighters that will have quad cannons right now.

EDIT: Here she is. This IF fighter has primary lasers and secondary lasers, so you virually don't overheat. No missiles for this craft though.

@EGG_GUTS and FOOLIS: On the show, the Alliance capital ship was always black with green, wasn't intention to copy any other style.

I'm glad everyone likes it. I'm removing a lot of the stars and the nebulas will be space dust or gone. Space isn't that busy.

Lol! I havent seen the show either, but I ordered it to check it out.
I dont know much about the fan community itself, but apparently there is a rumor that there might be a return of the series and/or a new movie. Also, a mmorpg based on the series has been confirmed.

Anyway, back ON TOPIC:
You wanted ideas?
For the sides: Scince I am under the impression that the Alliance has acess to superior training and equipment than the IF, I think that the sides should be a relatively small amount Alliance Marines and/or Special Operations and/or Operatives with superior health and speed and arsenals against a larger force of inferior Independants.

For the cruisers:
-Actually have Infantry battles on the cruisers. Maybe have half the battle take place in the alliance cruiser- mayve one of the smaller IF ships crashed in the hanger, and it happened to have a stike team on it. The other half would be the fighters (duh )
-Dragonum's models, reskinned. Self explanitory.

Whaddaya think?

That's awesome Alpha, but is it healthy to be pumping out so many great mod maps at once

@Ateas: I don't want this to be a consuming project, just to generate interest in the series as a whole (both the TV series and my map series lol) so there probably won't be extensive sides (just pilots and marines) and I won't be attempting the in door infantry battle. This time. However, for a later space map...who knows.

@Phyzzle: I'm on medication for it.

EDIT: Heh, forgot my update. The I.F. ship is done. The I.F. fighters are done (99% at least) and the Alliance capital ship is done. The alliance fighters are almost done. I need to pull back the camera for when flying the bomber. Anyone know which part of the ODF that is?

Anyway, sides will be the only thing left when I get this part done. Then I'll need beta testers. NO ONE ASK YET. I'll say when.

WOW! The second pic looks like the combination of an ISD and an CIS Core ship. So....what is it about? I don't really know the story.

Who isn't bitter? You've definately captured the Alliance Cruiser look. Oh, and I seem to remember some kind of gunship that the Alliance had in the pilot early on. I would explore that (if you haven't already). Other than that, there really isn't much to go on 'sides your instincts (we don't see massive space battles except the one in Serenity). I look forward to release.

Yeah, I've frozen that image and can't really tell what it is, the gunship that is. Same for the skiff in the pilot. I can see that it looks almost like the Rebel V-Wing, but I don't have one of those obviously. I'll see if I can get a good look at the gunship again and see what I can do.

Off Topic: Did you see the final episode of BSG? That was insane. A while back too I know.

Yes I did, and I have some pretty wild ideas about the history of the Cylons. We shall see if they're true. But yeah, arguably one of the best moments in the series. Horray for BSG!
