Don't make video avatars your avatar. It's not fair to the users who still have 56k. A gif file should be a maximum of around 10-15 frames. Nowhere near long enough for a movie.

How do you make a small gif. your avatar anyways? do you have to upload it to some site and write the URL of the location containing the gif.? Is there an easier way?
