What do you think will happen to the Grand Theft Auto series?

Honestly, I hope it dies. It was great to start out with, but it's going overboard to point of practically teach sex, violence, and bad morals in general. Other games have that content, but GTA goes crazy with it. I mean, all GTA 7 needs is playable drinking and smoking and it will have become the most morally debilatating game ever.

Don't get me wrong, its fun, but I'd rather have blood removed, and be a cop or a vigilante.

I read that there should be a new GTA, taking place in London (again). Seems to be a "Back-to-the roots"-action.

However I totally agree with Teancum!

I would agree that it is totally sickening. But if you dont think of that stuff, it really is a brilliant game, I mean think of the effort that was put into it.

I do - but like teancum and 'shadowlord' I TOTALLY thinks that all that violence sucks

it was fun in GTA 2 where you jsut drove and ran from the 'Top View', but to make EVERYTHING in 3D and make ALL the splashings and squirts and such so realistic really sickens me... :?
I admit the improvements, but they went too far!

the main problem is, that MOST people (mainly kids and youngsters  ) sees things in a game and 'play it with his/hers friends' but at a point, they DONT know if they're allowed to! I've seen LOTS of kids being too much affected by violence it games and TV (a few weeks ago on the school, a kid in 1st grade was talking at his friend on a computer at the libabry, and then they suddenly was yelling and screaming about 'cocks' and 'pussies' - and that's directly translated!)
THAT freaks me out, and its not helping to see LOTS of kids ACTUALLY almost laugh when people got hurt!!

I mean - JEEZE!!! :? :? :?

I've ALWAYS been able to split unrealistic things (funny things like shooting and driving in games) and realistic (just the pain of falling and hit your knee hurts - so imagine a gun-wound!)

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks this way... :?

In Germany there is a huge discussion at the moment if so called "killer-games" (the government invented this expression) should be forbidden. That was even part of the coalition treaty! But nobody knows how to define such killer-games. Some think that only "real" games like gotcha should be forbidden. Others (expecially a few TV shows) are of the opinion that nearly every pc-game which contents weapons can turn kids to murderers!
You can see that there is a lot of generalization in this discussion but games like the GTA series are of course not very helpful...
But I think that this dicussion will be forgotten soon.

I read that a kid had a minor offence, was sent to jail for what would have been probably just a day, and then disarmed a policeman killing him and two other officers before he was stopped. The kid later said that he found out how to do all that from the newest GTA game. Instead of just having to pay a fine and spend the night in jail he was sentenced to life in jail.

But that's not all... I'm surprised nobody mentioned the "pornographic content", hidden in one of the Grand Theft Auto series' titles... (It was originally integrated in the game, but developers decided to make it "less visible" in the final release. Now, a "user-made" patch has been made in order to access this scene without encountering too many difficulties...)

I know. And they gave it the code name "No more hot coffee mod". I believe that it was secretly made by someone at Rockstar Games.

Not to make this a big discussion guys but saying games turn people into murderers is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE!

To be a murderer you have to have a screw loose. I truely believe there has to be something inside you (or missing) to actually kill another human.

However, there are some things could make a 'normal' person commit this crime. I know if some1 murdered a member of my family I would hunt them down ,Anakin style ;)

But games ? dont make me laugh

A developer who can't be "professional"...
RockStar Studios should have been sued for having only planned on integrating such contents...

Isnt GTA rated 18 (adults only) ?? (i think it is in the UK anyway)

If so, whats the problem with adding smoking , drinking or pornographic content?? I see no problem whatsoever ....but then again Im not American ;) (sue sue sue!!! lol ) .

Also no-one was forced to download THAT patch

I heartedly agree. Movies, games and etc... can't influence "normal" people to murder, you have to have a problem mentally or something that is there first. The game has an 18 certificate over here and if you're that effected by that sort of content at that age then you have a problem. Prior to that you shouldn't have it, that's what ratings are for. Also at that age you'll have seen far worse on the news etc... The series of games are all right but they get boring real quick!

It's simple. What if a 13 year old has an 18 year old brother. Therein lies the problem.

So no 18 rated movie should have swear words, violence, sex etc etc etc ? same deal.

If the older brother allows his 13 year old bro to watch /play stuff that is too adult for him then THEY are irresponsible NOT the companies who provide the medium.

Yeah, I have the GTA:SA for PC and im 14, I bought it from a friend. I thought it was fun but I seriously think that the game is dying. There really isnt anything that they can do that they havent done before.

But do the people in "civilised countries" actually do something about the rating? I'm 16 (well, since today) and the people didn't ever raise an eyebrow when I bought it.
