just to answer the questions for xwing, there will most likely be turrets on the neb b and as for the ssd, i think it is just in the background, anyway xwing, i feel like sayin this:
Do what must be done, do not hesitate, show no mercy

9 fps? That sounds like it's almost unplayable which mean th map isn;t worth downloading....

yea if the lag prob persists it will be a major determining factor in whether or not this map becomes popular or not

I actually don't care about lag because this is going 2 be the best space map ever released

Even if its very laggy I still would download it

Well, that's your problem. I personally hate lag as it makes a map crap. You can barely shoot (and hit someone) if the map is too laggy.

Portals will help quite a big in eliminating lag. They make sure the engine only renders what you can see, eliminating such problems. Take a look at Coruscant and Tantive IV in ZeroEdit. It's really a cool feature that all indoor based maps should use.

I tried to put the bulk of the interior into a single sector just to see how it would be w/o all the interior being rendered. NOTHING HAPPENED! it still lagged like heck when I looked in the direction of the interior despite that ther is no portal linking to that sector. WHY?!

YOu have to use a combination of portals and sectors. Using one or the other won't work.

Im not sure about this but could it be that portals are not accounted for dude to the fact that the halls are inside the ship? I havent tested this yet but the whole portals inside other objects concept might be what is giving you trouble..
Off topic: haha with all the probs and setbacks it looks like ill be playing SSBB (SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL--dont you know anything???) before i play this map.......

That's the story of my life, too.

Yeah, secret characters were stupid, just clones of the main ones.

What kind of machine are you using, Xwingguy ? 9fps are very menacing...

CPU Celeron(R) 2.53GHz
1.24 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Saphire Radeon 9250 256MB (PCI bus)
In my opinion, my parents gave me a poor computer. It had nothing but PCI slots and a 64 MB Integrated video and sound card and 256MB RAM when I got it. Obviously I've upgraded it but it still gets only 20-22 fps on normal maps.
Plus I've still got to portal and sector the map.

Well, that's odd. My computer has:
Processor: Intel Celeron 1.8 Ghz
Memory: 512 MB
Graphic Card: ATI Radeon 9250 256MB (PCI bus)
and I run endor without lag on medium settings.

hmmm, mine is good for
AMD Sempron 3000+ (AMD athlon 64...how i wish)
2GB RAM
Nvidia Gforce 6200 512(AGPX8)i know AGP is out, and i really want PCI EX 16
I run Endor on High without lag(+shadows, and anti aliasing x2
well, back to topic
9fps?
not good, but with those portals and sectors i hope it would go much better.
and by the way, in the original space maps are they using sectors in space?
or is there no reason because the spacemaps are so small?

well just give me a second here for an off topic post:
sectors and portals...could this not have been the thing to use for land-to-space maps?...i do remember that there was a dogfight deathstar1 map that was done, but that looked a little shonky...
