Editing water

Is there an easy way to edit water? I mean to 1) make the water actually look like water. My water currently looks like a solid blue wall ( will add transparecny, but it still a solid blueish colour ) and 2) make it a different colour. I got the water to ripple on shore. I would just like it to look more like water and not a blue wall you can run into. Thanks in advance.

1) Turn your water settings in the video option to High to make it "actually look like water." 2) The color of the water is determined by the RGB values in your world's .fx file under the water section.

Thats it? sounds simple enough.
So once I add transparency, change the RGB colour values in the .fx folder and crank up graphics it should work? I will give this a try.

Add transparency to what? It should have transparency by default already. Water set to anything other High is supposed to look bad. And yes, the two things I suggested should work otherwise I wouldn't have suggested them.

The water viewed from above looks like a blue wall ( no transparecny. ) anyways im working on fixing this as we speek, reading the FAQ's.
EDIT
For now I won't worry about RGB values ( maybe later ) for now lets focus on making the water look like water. By solid blue, non transparent I mean this:
Hopefully this explains what I meant.

Replace and resave your water texture with the orignal one you edited. Make sure it has its orignal alpha channel as well. Edit the color of the water via the .fx file instead of recoloring the .tga texture. Next time, you should really explain the changes you already made when posting your problem. Otherwise, we'll just assume everything is default...

Sorry for double post. I will re-save the water with original and alpha and try again.
EDIT: The water works! I had to move a file into the effects folder than move that into my world1 folder for it to work, but it works. Sorry for all the confusion. Thanks for all the help!
