Animating recharge droids

Post by Maveritchell »

Any of the recharge droids (ClassLabel = "powerupstation") - can they be animated? My attempts have given me a droid that flashes in and out of existence, randomly jumping along the path of its animation. Is there something special one might have to do to get this to work? Has anyone ever tried this?

im not sure they are able to move as a powerupstation. i've never personally tried to do this, but i think the region of their effect can't move or be animated, so this may glitch the objects movement.

It's a thought. I hadn't considered that the integrated region in a powerupstation would have the same limitations as regular regions. Oh well.

I hear Teancum put a recharge droid on one of the conversion maps but it might work with the script or the modtools

another possible is that its rotating/arm animations also cause it to glitch, so try taking those lines out of its odf.

If the region is the issue, then what you could do is make a seperate odf for ur moving droid that isnt a powerupstation, but its in an effect region that covers all its area of movement from a real recharge droid that you could hide somewhere.

Yeah, I already tried removing the animated sections. In truth it was another (un-animated) mesh entirely, although I've also tried just the plain gonk droid and an unmoving gonk droid.

Likewise, extending the effect region to cover the entire region of movement would be counterproductive in my case, as I want the powerup to be somewhat inaccessible, and the region of movement covers a large portion of the map. In other situations, that may not be a bad idea, though.
