The matter is, for what game, you need it: for SWBF1 or SWBF2?

I would like to have it, too. For SWBF II

That is no mod. It's a model + texture you can use for creating a unit with the ModTools. Side creation is explained in the FAQ.

The original post is asking how to use it, not how to get it. The download link for this asset still works, and player models work for both SWBF1 and SWBF2.

Also, read some of the documentation that was included with the mod tools (I would be more specific, but all of it, unless you don't plan on modeling, is helpful).
EDIT:
Here's a link to the FAQ

like how do you add it onto your game so you can play as it?

Bob and Dreadnot just told you what you need to do. Slightly rewording your question won't change how getting a new player model in-game is done.

No, they did not tell you to look at the readme, they told you to look at the documentation that came with the modtools. There is a difference. In the actual modtools, there is a whole folder called "documentation," which outlines the basic principles of just about everything associated with Battlefront II modding. Anything that is not covered in that will tend to be found in the FAQ here on GT (not the one that is linked to under the banner, the one under SWBF2 Modding.

In the FAQ thread, under the "Sides" heading, is this;
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 27&t=12729
A detailed tutorial on how to create your clone commando and play him in-game.
What's helpful and saves a lot of your time and ours is if you have a question, ALWAYS check the FAQ thread first, and see if you can find something in there that applies to your question. If not, you can always ask. But trust us, we've been doing this for years, you can't fool us into thinking you went through the FAQ thoroughly when you didn't.

Unfortunately that's the
only way. It becomes second nature after a while, just keep plugging away at it, you'll get it soon enough.

The modding system's so complex because most modders are using it to make whole new maps. There's no direct functionality for adding a unit to a stock, premunged map - what you want to do just isn't often done, and isn't the main purpose of the mod tools.
That said, I think the easiest way for you to go about adding that unit to a stock map would be to make an era mod. There's documentation in the FAQ, as well as a how-to in the v1.3 patch docs.
