This is the basics of sides modding. you dont extract textures from a .lvl you simply edit the stock side. if you dont already get bfbuilder pro.

http://www.secretsociety.com/forum/down ... 030605.zip

put uit next to ur old bfbuilder. run it then either in your old or new project, click sides-import retail sides-imp
then let it load.

then go to ur maps data folder then sides/ then imp then odf and edit dark trooper .odf and change the mesh lines with the mesh name of the at at pilot. im pretty sure this basic stuff is in
FAQS

Is your problem anything like this: http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... =1&t=24450 ?

If you have a 64-bit system, the munge will get stuck and you'll need to do a couple commands to get it to work.

Thank you, i did look at the forums, i guess i overlooked it
well for the most part i understand how to edit the sides, however i am a bit confused since the imperial officer, and its associated mesh, and other parts, where as you know cut from the vanilla game, hence adds to the difficulty into replacing the darktrooper with it, any insight , also, will munging the edited files, into Star Fire Sides mod mess it up?

if you want to edit a previous mod. you would need permission by the maker. and also you cant edit .lvl files except by hex edit so you will have to recreate it of some sort or explain differently what you mean

Well i am waiting on EA711s reply, either way it is for my own use, so i think permission is necessary.
Ive tried to hext edit a modified texture into the mods imp.lvl, but i get a ctd
what do you want me to reexplain?

Ok, basicly to edit a side, you need the side's folder which contains the effects, MSH, munged, ODF and REQ folders. Within these folders is all the files needed to create sides. MSH contains the models (.msh) and textures (.tga), effects contains any custom effects, munged contains animations, ODF contains the files that tie the unit togather, and the REQ contains some files that are needed to reference the odfs in order to get them into the game.

If you have any maps in the BFbuilder, look inside the "sides" folder and then go into "gam" and you'll see the sides file for the Gamorrean side in Jabba's palace.

To get a unit into the game, you must edit the LUA to reference the unit.

If you already know this, then I've just spent some time practicing my typing skills. If not, then let me know and I can help you more.
