As I already told you, get WinRAR. It compresses best, and it can open up everything.

BTW- if you haven't noticed it's going to be based in a canyon pit, with lots of rock paths/ underground secret areas...

The canyon is nicely designed, just some small questions:
First: what is this piece of painted metal up there ?
Second: Will you be able to walk on the protrusions ?
Third: I know your map : The Canyon will be from where to where ?

1: it's a CIS ship that animates it's way over the canyon
2: yes you can
3: The canyon has lots of rock protrusions , and alot of them lead to higher levels. The level is built up to be 8 canyon stories tall

-I'm trying to see how I can get a republic cruiser crashed again, that was the hardest part of making my last map....
-The chunk msh don't seem to work as props also... :(

-I might try modeling again to see if I can make proper rock formations to walk across though....

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah: Once you have the ship crashed, you can make some interiors for it: not many, only enough to have an alternate way of leavin' the cap, so the CIS will have a difficult time laying curtain fire to keep the Clones inside.
As to terrain: Seeing that it always rains on this planet, you could have some rivers: remember, canyons are the results of rivers flowing for a long time.
Also as to terrain: Maybe you could include a hidden place, incredibly hard to reach. Searching will keep people busy yet motivated for a longo time, believe it.

Yes good ideas, I am thinking of basing this on a sniper map because it's so big.....

EDIT:
Is there a thread that can introduce a newb into modeling? :P

I read Bandu's tutorial, but I'm still confuzzled about texturing....
Also, does anyone know of a great video capturing freeware program?

I'd say Fraps, from http://www.fraps.com. Everybody uses it, and there's a free version out.

But for the free fraps it only takes 30 seconds of a clip. For the full version i think its between $30-$40 and has many mroe features.
