Well you've done a great job so far its clear you are a perfectionist when it comes to detail and atmosphere of the map along with the sides you've created. So i can understand that you want everyone to enjoy it which they will i just hope you keep the phase 1 clones because nobody really uses them in the maps.

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
Mini-update - I followed Mav's tutorial and got custom music working. Hero Assault will now use different star wars tracks, mostly in the same style as the ones that are being replaced. Most prominently, Yub Nub has been replaced with the Special Edition Celebration theme (though that might be a disappointment to some).
At least some of the new heroes will be getting custom music as well.
Almost finished with Dash Rendar 100%. He is going to be the most extensively custom hero in the map. Anyone who played through Shadows of the Empire and remembers it thoroughly will be very pleased.
It will be hero updates from here on out. I still have a bit of mapwork to do but I'm unmotivated.

Neat. I suppose you will give Dash his theme? Eh, no, nevermind, it's too short.

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
Actually I did. Then I put in some other Star Wars music after it and it all sounds fine.

Looks cool but how big of a download do you think it will be with all this custom stuff?

Read the first post. 150 MB and growing. A major factor in discouraging me to finish this map, but I don't care anymore. It will be released when and how I want it to be. I don't room in my life right now to worry about how it will be received. Sorry.

Anything with a lot of models and textures is going to eat up a lot, 150 MB is pretty par-for-the-course. You may be able to knock 30 MB off that right away by removing the tur.lvl from your sides folder (by default it will be in there and munge with new sides). Get a good archive on the download and you can easily have your download down to 70 or so MB.Food_Eater wrote:Read the first post. 150 MB and growing. Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
Thanks. I've had the .tur side removed from the beginning, though. There might still be some excess textures and meshes I have to remove. I'm going to see if I can optimize the sides and I'll probably end up cutting most of the music.
The current file is 163 MB (109 from the main .lvl, +40 for the sides, and 10 for the music). Using the best compression with WinRAR gets the file down to 52.7 MB. Only downsides are that it creates a .rar file and some people don't have WinRAR or 7zip (though they should), and that the extracted file size will still pose a problem to people who don't have very much memory.

Use 7zip and make a self-extracting archive. It creates an .exe file, which anyone can run regardless of software, and you can get better compression than a .rar file.Food_Eater wrote:The current file is 163 MB (109 from the main .lvl, +40 for the sides, and 10 for the music). Edit: For example, this file compressed from 110 MB to 24 MB.
