sure it can. all you have to do is drag it to the "destroy planet" slot beside the planet, and *BOOM*
that way you don't have to worry about red squadron. make them attack you if they want to destroy it.

erm, doesn't that work only if they have no space stuff above the planet? Or if you forget to activate it during a battle and it ends os you'll have to blow it up that way?
well, yeah, but tartans work well against red so it doesn't matter, just pack a fleet of tartans along with DS. (The DS spawns VSDs for you to kill those nebs anyhow)

well, yes, you have to have removed the enemy space forces first.

Thats odd, because you ppl always say that you cannot fire the DS during battle or as long as the enemy still has forces, right? (well thats wt i heard here and lucasarts forums) I can, during battle even when the enemy still has space forces and fighting, the camera zooms out DS fires then slowly zooms back to the battle pretty kool actually

what? we're not saying its not possible to blow up the planet mid-battle, iirc there's a timer that counts down until the ds can fire, and then you just press the button on the command bar. we're saying if you want to blow up the planet outside of battle there cant be any enemy ships there.
