Crashing [Solved]

Post by Master_Ben »

Hey guys,

Just built a computer for Christmas with Win7 Professional. I've got the mod tools to work, including visualmunge and ZE, as well as XSI Mod Tool and just about everything else I use. I've got an i7 950 3.something processor, and an Ati Radeon HD 6870 GPU, drivers installed from their disks. I just ran BF2, and it's not working. It runs fine until I actually load a map. I've ran it in the safe mode provided with BF2, as well as the mod tools, with no luck. This is what I'm getting as a debug log, which is just about nothing.

Yup, that's it. The log is for a test map that I ran, but it does this with any map.
Any help? Thanks. Even if just the mod tools version one runs and gives me a log and a small, half-green screen, that would be good enough for me.

Your sound card might not be compatible with bf2

I had the same problem with BF2 and COD4 when I installed Windows 7, they have some problems with the sound mixer, you can do a quick test by turning off the sound in the BF2 menu, that should work. If this is the case, you can fix it by plugging in a mic (I think that turning off the mixer also works, I never tried it, I fixed it with the mic)

It would be quicker to turn on the mixer first, not turning off BF2 sound before looking into other things.

Thanks guys, I figured it out. Yeah, sound seems to be my problem lately. I had the same problem with Bioshock, which I got off of steam a few days ago. The issue was that my realtek driver wasn't offering a sound mixer for some reason, even if I checked the "show disabled devices" section. I tried the latest driver, but It appears it uninstalled the driver instead of updating it. Another install, and I turned on the mixer, and now it's working. :)

I had the same problem, that´s why I told him to turn off the sound in BF2 instead.

Great news it´s working fine now

I tried turning off the BF2 sound within BF2 in options, and that didn't work for me. In any case, it's up and running now. :)
