i am working on animating a ship(nu-class rep attack shuttle) and i animate the wings in xsi, they work fine, it looks as it should, but when i export and put the anims in-game, the wings aren't in the correct position, and they rotate to a differnt position than what is in XSI(o deg. to 120(-120) deg.)
xsi(first is basepose, 2nd is in flight)

did you freeze the transforms before enveloping and animating?

what postion were the wings in before you enveloped?
The flyer has to be in landed position for both frame 0 and 1 amd prior to enveloping
The final frame of your animation is proper flying position.
What you can do is, with the ship in landed position go into the weight editor and under file there is a save function so you can save the current weighting.
Save them, then remove the envlope from the ship, easiest way to to press the Freeze button, not Freeze M. After you do that the ship should still be in the landed position. (you may also want to go in the clusters part of the tree and manually delete the envelope thing there)
If you have confirmed your animation is in the landed position on frame 0 and 1 re-envelope your model, don't worry about getting the 100% just doing envelope function is fine. Now go back into the weight editor and under file choose load and load back the file you had previously save and all your weights should go back to what they should be.
You can now re-export and it should all be fine.

One thing I forgot to mention was make sure you also do a freeze all transforms prior to re-eveloping sorry.
Anyway when you play the animation in XSI it is all correct, right?
When you go to export the mesh does the model change to another state other than the landed position? Meaning does it change to what could be percieved to be the in flight mode. If it does then the model hasn't been set to the proper first frame state somehow.

no it doesn't change and i am pretty sure that i froze the transformations anyways., thanks though

edit1-- i can't find "Freeze M" in XSI. i have the trial of XSI 5.1 is there a limit on textures that afterwards, they don't follow how they are arranged in XSI, because mine are there, but not as i want them

thanks

If you are working with XSI on a monitor with a resolution lower than the recommended 1280x1024 then you will need to collapse some of the Panels on the MCP by right clicking on any panel header, to expand or restore them simply right click on them again.

Are you using Modtools menus?
If so go to the Mode button up top and select the XSI softimage ones (not the 3d one)
then the Freeze button should show up bottom right corner. Click on the edit menu button if you can't see it.

This happened to me once. You probably have other tabs in the way. Minimize some of them and you'll see it.

This may sound like a bit of a pain but, start over with the ship in the landed position.
Create a new set of nulls (bones) and envelope to them and then recreate your animation.

select all polys of the model and click extract polys (delete) and/or export it as obj an reimport
some weird problems can be solved by doing the above

ok. i'll try it.
thanks

i'm pretty sure that extract(delete) didn't work. is there anything else i can try?
I can't export to obj because i have multiple textures per object
