Final Testing: Manaan: Murky Depths

Well, I've finally been able to get a map up and going, and so far things have come out really well. This map was inspired mostly by the levels in kotor, and the idea of utilizing rainshadow with my bubble effects. The map itself is nearly complete, aside from a few errors I keep getting with the polis massa doors and the invisible collisions.

Here is the only pic I have at the moment, hopefully I can fix this one bug so i can get more pics.

Image

The Story is pretty simple. The CIS/Rebels, fighting a desperate fight on manaan, attempt to retreat by diving into the oceans depths. With the Republic\Empire on their tail, they come upon an abandoned underwater facility, whose origin and purpose remain a mystery, even to the manaan.

Current list of bugs that i've yet to resolve.
>Haven't got my custom units in
>The polis massa doors are corrupted, and will lock up battlefront when i start the map
>CTF still not configured
>Minimap needed
>Invisible collision boxs will not block ordinance.

I'll be checking these off and adding new ones as they arise.

Awesome. Manaan is a great planet to do something like this on. I'd see Squipple for the Minimap. He's the man. They look just like the shipped maps when he's done.

Wow, looking sharp there. I love KOTOR maps(which is why I can't wait to play the RotE Dantooine map :P), so your Manaan map looks excellent so far. Are you going to have any "sea creatures" swimming around outside? And how long do you think until you'll be releasing a playable version?

Sadly no, there will not be any swimming creatures, unless of course you know if there is some kind of "birdshadow region".

Looks cool. Is there going to be any fighting outside the facility, in the ocean? Or is it just indoors fighting? Personally, I'd love to see some outdoors stuff, like that underwater Kamino you did for BF1.

No, this map will be all indoors. I'm not really sure how you would do a indoor/outdoor battle unless you could disable to jetpacks indoors and the bubble trails and such.

Finally, here are some more pics.

Security Room: might add remote turrets for defense throughout the base

Hmm, i need to figure out how to get rid of the Hud.

Looks great! It would be cool if you could use ZE animation to have that giant fish from KOTOR swim around!

No, the only thing that really makes it manaan is the name. This facility is completely abstract, and the rooms are just made up.

For the problem with the bot routing, did you assign weights to the hubs? Because if you did, bots will look at each possible path, determine which one weighs the most, and ALWAYS take that path. At least, that's the way it was for BF1.

Wow, nice. From the pics, this is the most promising map I've seen in a while. Not that others don't have their place, but personally I'm not a fan of the enormous wide open maps. I need something to explore! :)

Yes, if you need a minimap, see me.

To be honest, I've not seen even a little bit of water in this map - is there any yet.

And to this underwater fight problem:
You could make it like on polis massa: energy fields keep the water outside, and you can only move outside in a vehicle:
Either in a Droid
Mini-Sub or on a Mon Cal underwater mount.

These vehicles would behave like flyers.

Or you could just make SCUBA troopers with jetpacks. (there's a SCUBA skin in the Glamour skins thread)

OFFTOPIC: I've only played KotOR II, and ordered KotOR 1 a week ago. It should arrive by tomorrow

ONTOPIC: That mon cal underwatermount looks impossible to make IMO :P But the Minisub looks do-able.
This map reminds me of the Ancient Research Facilaty map :P
