Battlefront 2 UK DVD version?

I have the BF2 UK DVD version, and have the BF2 Mod Tools installed as well. When I use VisualMunge to set up my map, then edit the map with ZeroEditor, and then use VisualMunge again to compile the map it doesn't do anything!
I can press that Munge button for ages and it wont do anything.
Also, when I start the BF2 Mod Tools from within the BF2_ModTools folder I first got the 'missing binkw32.dll' error, which I solved by installing that file. But now it says that the '_BinkDX9SurfaceType@4' line is missing from that binkw32.dll file!
I can only start up the BF2 Mod Tools from the shortcut in my Start folder.
Does it matter that my BF2 version is on DVD, because I've heard that this could give problems? And if so, is their a patch for it?
Any help here would be appreciated.

as written in the Documents'....

you will have to munge your map from ModID/_Build/Visual Munge

Yes that's what I do, and then it does nothing.

Having the DVD version would not be the cause of the problems you are having.
I assume you have the game installed. Did you install the .dll by copying binkw32.dll from the game's directory and pasting it into the mod tool's root directory?

I have Battlefront 2 installed, and after I downloaded and installed the binkw32.dll file into the WINDOWS/System folder, the first 'missing dll' error was gone. Only to be replaced by a second one

So, you're saying VisualMunge isn't even trying to compile your level? Are you absolutely sure that is what it's doing? That's a very off-the-wall problem. I have a feeling there's more to this.
Also, the modtools executable goes in your Star Wars Battlefront II/Gamedata folder. This file has been known not to work on the DVD version of the game, however, there is a workaround that I believe is in one of the stickied threads.

really?
can you then post the link to that thread?
and I gotta admit that this is very unusual...

I can't believe it just won't munge

can you add a step-by-step guide on how you do it?

Given that there are only two sticky threads, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Well, that's if the workaround is even mentioned by the aforementioned thread. My memory is kind of sketchy. Either way, it's here somewhere.

I've even uninstalled and re-installed the BF2 Mod Tools today, made a new map with VisualMunge, edited in ZeroEditor, tried to compile it...didn't do anything.
I've send the map to someone on these forums who's really good with BF mods and he can compile my map, but I can't

You said you dowloaded the .dll...The dll downoad sites are convenint but sometimes a dll holds specific settings for the program it is associated with. did you also try copying the binkw32 from your SWBF2 gamedata folder and using that one? if it is a matterof inernal archiving that should fix it up good. Though, this is still a pretty whacky problem to begin with.

I don't see what the modtools executable has to do with munging problems, but it doesn't need to be in the GameData folder.
The work-around topic you speak of is only to get the error log. It won't give you the nice green section. The link:

There were two issues, so I tried to respond to both. I could swear at some point that was where the exe was meant to go, or maybe that was for the first Battlefront. Oh well.
I didn't mean to make it seem as if the workaround would make the thing work. I only mentioned it because I thought it'd be useful.

Alright, I found that I just needed to copy my binkw32.dll 1.8.2.0 to my BF2 Mod Tools folder...but now I get the message 'please insert cd1' even though I have the DVD version.
I've heard about this problem but am not aware of any solution!

Can anyone with either the US or International CD version of Battlefront 2 tell me what exactly the filesize of DISK 1 is? Please also mentions which version it is.

This is the DVD problem that was being talked about on some of the other topics. There are no fixes for it, but it is possible to work around it.
If you just want to play your map to see what it looks like:
1) munge your map
2) run SWBF2 and select your map from the Instant Action menu
If you are trying to get an error log from the map, you need to use the server manager (need to download that) and start a server running the map. Follow the link for more info on how to set all that up:

But I can't get it to munge, that's the problem!
Whenever I use VisualMunge to munge my map it just doesn't do anything. And it's not the map because I sent it to someone else and they had no trouble munging it.
However, the only error I get now is the 'insert cd1' message.
So if someone could just tell me the filesize of cd1 of BF2, either the US or international versions.

I have the retail version of Battlefront 2, but it's on DVD so the mod tools don't work with it!
That's why I would like to know the answer to the above question.
