Corellia: Coronet City - Public Beta Release Thread
Hey everyone, it's been a while. I haven't done serious work on Coronet City in about a month, sans some changes for this beta release. I figured that if I let the community play the map and give feedback, I'll feel inspired to finish this map 100%. This map does not contain all the content that will be in the final release.
Corellia: Coronet City - Public Beta Release
By Foodstuffs (known as Food_Eater on Gametoast and Filefront)
FILE SIZE (when extracted): 160 MB
Background:
Coronet City is a sprawling spaceport metropolis and capital of Corellia, a planet home to smugglers, pirates, and many heroes and villains from the Galactic Civil War. The city is home to Han Solo of Star Wars fame (haha), and is a very important location in Star Wars canon throughout all eras. During the development of this map I have ignored much of expanded universe information regarding the location, aside from the bare basics. This means that avid EU fans will be disappointed when they find a lack of locations like the "Blue Sector" or CorSec officers patrolling the streets. Galaxies players will be especially disappointed because I've kicked the SWG interpretation of the city out the window. This is my own interpretation of the city and proudly so.
Features (more to come in final release):
•New "urban" Rebel skins.
•Use of Episode 2-style Clones (including Clone Commander).
•4 New heroes: Wedge Antilles, Ben Kenobi, Dash Rendar, and Baron Fel. Many more to come in the final release.
•Unarmed civilians roam the area in Conquest mode.
•Animated ships of various sizes fly around and hover within the map.
•New Hero Assault music.
•Hunt mode in both eras. Clone Wars is Pirates VS. Smugglers, while Galactic Civil War is Civilians VS. Empire.
INSTALLATION
1) Open Corellia Coronet_City.exe
2) When it asks you for a Destination Folder, browse to your Gamedata folder. By default it is located at C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
3) Hit "Install" and say "Yes" to anything it asks to replace. THIS DOES NOT REPLACE OR MODIFY ANY FILES WITHIN THE GAME. It will only replace the "addon" folder if that already exists, and any other mod folders named "CCC." If you happen to have another mod file named "CCC" that is a different map entirely and you want to keep, be sure to back that up.
4) You have just installed the Coronet City Public Beta! Run the game and browse to the level select screen, and "Corellia: Coronet City" should be on the list.
TO UNINSTALL
1) Browse to the "addon" folder in GameData .
2) Delete the folder titled "CCC."
3) Bravo... you have just uninstalled Coronet City.
KNOWN BUGS
•The game may occasionally FREEZE in Conquest and Assault modes online. This often seems to occur in the middle of a game at the exact moment when you die, you kill someone, or you respawn. This is only known to occur in non-dedicated servers.
•The AI currently struggle with both CTF modes. The only way to finish a CTF game within the next century is for the player to intervene.
•Death regions are somewhat unrestricted and you may accidentally enter one. This is to prevent map exploiting (aka glitching). Stay away from the edges around the Cargo Hold, the bottom side of the crates above the Cargo Hold CP, and the areas to the left and right of the cantina.

File Size (unextracted): 40 MB File Size (extracted): 160 MB One of these days, I swear, I'll get that file size down. Not that I'm being wasteful or anything. Everything IS optimized to the max, it's just the map is object and texture-heavy.
If anyone wants to make a new loading screen, you have one week to send me an image. I'll pick the best one that resembles the stocked map loading screens. The current loading screen is just a fill-in. It would nice if someone with a high-res monitor and a good video card could take a picture for me. You will be put in the credits, of course.
Please post any bugs, problems, complaints, etc. to the WIP Topic.
(I might be online sometime, join or host a server and it'll be good times.)

There is obviously a contradiction in that statement, unless you consider the dowload window of your browser a game.
Anyway, thank you for this release Food Eater, I (and probably all of the Game Toasters) will do my best to provide you some fine feedback.

Well my first bug to report is maybe to make sure something like THIS can't happen....:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Perhaps a player boundary or a death region?
But besides that, AWESOME MAP! Immersion of all the new kinds of civillian skins. Some smugglers even(that I am sad didn't attack). You have done an awesome job dude! Its also so BIG, its hard to get from one place to another mainly cus of the OPPOSING TEAM actually barring ur way(for once)
Thumbs up from me

small credit fix: mara jade was made by Neomarz/Mars Marshall and -im 99% shure- converted by by minilogoguy, the moldycrow was made by raven i reckon
i released a improved version of Neomar's/Mars Marshalls female (without missing polys etc) here by the way
the map looks very good, reminds me of dark forces 2: jedi knight
edit: i played it and ive got to say that its one of the best maps ive every played!
the atmosphere is great civilians running around, ships flying around etc.
here are some screens (dont wonder about the repetivity i made pretty similiar images for possible loadingscreens)
WARNING very many pictures!
Hidden/Spoiler:
and two screens of glitches:

That one would make an awesome loading screen.
This is an amazing map. Besides a few glitches (already posted) and the AI crowding in spots, it is an extremely immersive map. Much like Rend's original Coruscant maps, this map is its own world. The map is big, but with the detail all around you as you play, it looks even bigger. (a good thing in this case) The beta was brilliant, good luck continuing for the updated version!

Really fun map, gives you this old-school Star Wars feeling, which I like. The only problem for me was that the Hunt modes didn't seem to work for me. I always got a CTD. Other than that though, I loved the map.

Yeah the loading screen is kind of...well...not good. I'll try to get a good pic. The map is well put together and is pretty fun. You probably already know this but you need to add more people to hunt and make the conquest, and CTF people your own by doing something. It is very nice map and I love the new assets you have added. Didn't see one object from a shipped map, except mabey one of the walkways. Anyways, fantastic job.
9/10
PS better than I will do in a long time...

Cuz I take 'em with Xfire so that's the size that Xfire puts them at.

No it's not. That's just a size XFire shows them in. You can embed them on other websites by clicking "share" and then choosing "medium" or "large," I can't remember which. Then you just take the URL and put it in your post.

xfire scales the screenshots down if you dont change the defaults, you have to set the videoresolution to maximum in order to create fullres screenshots
example of screen with full-size videocapturing enabled:

with default resolution set:

just to clear this up

I did find more bugs. Sry if they have been mentioned alrdy:
Assault mode:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Yes, it seems quite frightening that a non-force sensitive like Wedge can sprint jump through there, and fall.
You would say I bet to not block anything for realism because I did notice there WAS a fall death region. But there was actually a ledge you could stay on there. And my main kink on this would be that wall feels like something that should be barriered.(prop/wall-wise, the looks of it)
Hidden/Spoiler:
Near CP3 of assault, poor Grievous got stuck here . Jump, roll, bribe, blackmail I dunno. You should probably block that place.
You should also notice a circle around a box that is actually missing its textures.
Iz all fer now Nice map seriously quite immersive(but quite bright and colourful...)
