That's how I've done it (always with a sniper rifle), and it's always worked.

Yep, sure know the feeling.

What you want is just a sniper rifle with explosive bolts, right (IE bolts that make explosions)? I'll PM you a working one and you can edit it how you choose.

Edit: It works!! thnx! now i have 1 more question: how do i attach an effect to a bolt (not an explosion, just and effect, like the trail effects for missiles)?

Can't. But if you want a bolt and a trail, use dual ordnance. Tutorial on it in the BF2 everything you need thread. Click on the 'Weapon ODF tricks' link in the 'miscellaneous section.'

I'm not sure, but you couyld just copy and rename one of the parent files and edit it how you choose.

If you can't get it using the tutorial at first, look at the sonic blaster a la Geonosians or Imperial officer for how to do the duel ordnance (since the weapon uses this technique).

i used the sonic blaster odfs and it works now but i think the problem was that i forgot to put the custom effect into the sides/common/effects folder
