I just dled rep's mshex (amazingness), and he says that I need to place everything I'm going to export under a null, not the scene root. I found the scene root, but I don't know how to create a null or what to put in it even if I did. Help please?

Got to model primitives then choose Null, that will put a 3D cross at point 0,0,0
In the XSI Explorer select this null, right click on it and rename it dummyroot.
Drag and drop all your model bits to this null. Leave the Scene_root Camera and light where they are.
You should now have all the important bits under the dummyroot.

Could dummyroot also be called MS3DSceneRoot?

When I drag and drop the polygon mesh it doesn't move over to the null.

The drag and drop you are doing is in the XSI explorer tree not dragging the actual model from a different work area

Right. I select the polygon mesh directory or whatever it is, and drag and drop it on top of the null. Nothing happens. I tried the same thing with the material.

Thats cause your doing it from the scene window, not the explorer, hit '8'

This is what I've got:
I'm doing all of this from the explorer. I'm not even sure what I need to copy over, so please be thorough. I'm a TOTAL newbie at this. TOTAL.

Click and drag scene_root1 onto dummyroot. If that does not work, middle click scene_root1 and drag it onto dummyroot.
