If you hold down the trigger, the grenade explodes when you let the trigger go, or after (I think) 5 seconds.
I just won a game of invasion slayer as spartans for teh first time without any bugs or being cheap going on. 'Twas epic, all 6 spartans just ran around together at pretty much all times, most of us had DMR's, but my friend and I were shelling the elites with grenade launcher. First time I haven't seen half the elites with energy swords in phase 3 for a while.

Fellow Gametoasters:
I am creating a video that will be released at the end of the beta. I need those of you who are playing the beta to send clips of you doing really epic awesome stuff. This can be just about anything, from assassinations to crazy hi-jacks, to honestly anything that looks really cool. The video will be in 720p High Definition. DMR is amazing.
Sprint is the only practical armor ability. The other one's just don't work for me. And I had to make my controller layout "Recon" because the default layout was stupid.

I found all of the abilities useful, really. I use jetpack the least, though at first that's all I used. Armor Lock is awesome when used properly.
I have to say, Invasion is cool, but I wasn't sure what to do the first few times. I'm much better at objective-based stuff so I'll probably be playing this and Generator Defense much more than Slayer. Besides, I love the throwback to the original Unreal Tournament Assault mode.
EDIT: So they beta got extended another 10 or so hours, it's officially ending on 5/10 at 10AM Pacific Time.

Good thing too. I still haven't had a chance to try generator defense. I'm surprised though. I Loooooved playing it when I actually played, but the past week or so I haven't had much of a desire to. But then again I've been busy...

Generator Defense is surprisingly fun, as in, even if you lose it doesn't matter as compared to Invasion with people who still quit out within the first few seconds and you want to blow up anyone who does anything right or wrong.
It does use the campaign servers though, so if that lags for you on Halo 3, expect the same.

It's funny because it's true. Although I really hate these freaking "PREORDER AND BUY FIRST-HAND OR YOU GET NOTHING SIR, NOTHING" kind of deals that are ever-so-common nowadays.
I understand it's so the developers get their money and don't get ripped off with second-hand game sales, but this makes it almost impossible to get anything after the main release, which makes it impossible to ever make a new account, and if so help you if someone ever steals it. Also, anyone who picks up the game at a later time will rarely get any of the special stuff.
Personally, I'd like to make myself less of a target to account hacking, but I'm not turning down my only chance to complete the armor sets. Hopefully they release the stuff later so there's less of a chance of that happening.

Any pre-order stuff (like flaming Recon) that I don't want I'll just buy off eBay a day after it comes out. That's what I'm going to do if I buy Transformers: War for Cybertron, which looks amazing.

Reach Recon helmet looks less ugly than H3's, which is always good. But I'm gonna do what Tean said, at least for the flaming helmet, and that's buy it off ebay. I'm still getting the limited edition, though.

Haven't heard anything about it one way or another. Best to check w/Amazon. They usually handle bonuses like that outside of the US, but if it's USA it's best to just go with Gamestop.

The thing is i preodered it 2 months ago off of amazon... Oh well at least I'll still get the elite armor with the limited edition if i don't get the recon.

Just read
yesterday's update; I'm liking what I'm hearing. I'm actually rather glad about the limited Elite customization, considering how I much awesomer Spartans are. It sounds like they fixed a lot of big bugs, like the weapons sprouting from where they shouldn't be in the service record and post-game carnage reports, and, sadly, the porcupine... And then Infection is back, and it sounds like the Zombies are Elites by default.

And then Safe Havens sounds like a beautiful gametype. The elite armor shown in the update looks awesome, and the Recon helmet no longer looks like a cell tower/brain lazer amp. I'm getting way too excited over this.

SPACE COMBAT. YES.
This is exactly what I wanted in Halo Reach. Space combat was such a big part of the book.
I only have to say one word to make you guys freak out with pure joy.
