OffhandGeometry with Trooper animation

Bascily I just want to have a unit have a gun in each hand. Just for looks, it doesn't have to shoot or anything.
I've tried adding
OffhandGeometryName = "mesh name here"
but the mesh doesn't show up in his other hand in-game.
Has anyone gotten something like this to work with the regular trooper animations?

Did you set up a bone as the attach point?

Perhaps you should check out Aayla, she's the only unit in the game to have 2 weopons. The other lightsaber in her hand is just for show too as far as I know.

That's all I want it for. Maybe is just the animation that enables the second weapon.

Actually, both of Aayla's lightsabers cause damage.
Vyse, try attaching it to bone_l_hand

According to what fred told me about this, Grevious's 6 sabers or the amount he has, only have 1 weapon with a LOT of 'illusions'

and he said that only one of the sabers did damage - so was the case with Aayla's 2 weapons

Hmm... I've used the Aayla anims with only one saber or the other on and got damage.... odd.

i have a jet trooper with two working guns, but the gun on the left hand is facing the wrong way so i need some one with XSI 5.2 to roate the gun for me

That's probably how he remembers it during development, but the combo file for grievous shows all four sabers causing damage.

Honestly, dual weapons(ranged) aren't that hard to set up if you have the models and animiations. I've been able to get both firing with both mouse buttons so you can control left and right, the prob is I can't get the gun to mirror over to the left hand.
